Why did a gift card end up in my car?  |

|  Today we were out running around hitting a lot of places at one time. We had to go to about 5 different stores and our in-laws house. My husband decided to take out POS (piece of sh!t) car since we got it for the "running around" kinda stuff. The thing with this car is that if you lock the drivers side door, you have to unlock the passenger side and climb across to open the drivers side. So we just leave the windows down and don't lock it.
Our first stop was Office Depot and my husband hands me his wallet to put in my purse. I don't really have room in there for it so I told him to leave it. I figure is someone sees this crappy car with the windows down and it all unlocked they'd figure there was nothing in it. So he leaves it in the console.
When we get back in the car, there's a $25 American Express gift card on the floor. I know it wasn't there before and I have no clue how it got there. We were joking that someone felt sorry for us having this car and out of the kindness of their hearts threw it in there for us. We don't need it, but let me tell you, a free $25 is a free $25!
First thing I do is call the number to see if it's been used up. I have a smart-phone and the number to call is all letters. My phone has the keypad so I don't have the letters on the numbers. I'm trying to figure out where each letter belongs, but I musta dialed wrong. I got a recording that said I can't call that number from my calling area. So I waited for our next stop - our in-laws to use their computer.
On the computer, it said that there was $25 available on the card. WOOHOO!!!
Our next stop was Home Depot to return a bush that died on us. I figured we'd use the gift card to buy a new one. Well, it didn't work. Eh, no biggie, it was "found" money so it wasn't a big deal if it didn't work.
Tonight when I got home, I decided to check it again to see if maybe it had been used, but just not recorded yet. It still shows that $25 is available. I'm going to check it again tomorrow afternoon because it's a weekend and all.
That would be way cool if it really was a good card, but I don't know how to get to use it now. And if it's a card that's already been used, it's no big deal because it's not like we're out anything.

| |  I doubt that anyone gave it to you. Someone in the next car most likely was holding onto the door of their car and the card or their purse was open and it accidentally flipped into your open window. Still, there doesn't seem to be any way that you could find the owner of the card so I think you can spend it free and clear.
There is no way you could advertise a lost card and not have a bunch of liers show up to claim it.
Enjoy your found money!
I have found money buried in the sand at the beach several times. When I was a kid, I went to Miami with my Aunt and Uncle and found $300 dollars in the sand. It more than paid for the whole trip. I was real popular on that vacation!

I cant think of antyhing off the top of my head for being given something for no reason. I've done things like given my sister money by leaving it her car when i know she's short or giving a family i know need a pc a pc that i repaired...but off the top of my head i cant think of anything like yours!

| |  It happens to me frequently when I need something. Not usually cash or a gift card, but things like a new watch or some flip flops, believe it or not. Since this is an old discussion I am sure you did resolve it, or figure out how to use the card. I am cleaning out really old e mails.
