Saving Water

California's drought index is currently at a severe condition. One of the things that I've been doing lately in order to save water is to only irrigate/water my plants every other day. I've also shortened my showers to 10 minutes - they were previously at 15 minutes (slowly worked my way to 10 minutes and YES it's possible).
Is your state experiencing drought? What are you doing about it?
If not, are you still in a water-saving state of mind?

There is currently no drought where i live. We usually dont see drought until about July or August!
Even when we do have a drought, I dont change any of my ways. I am always trying to conserve water! I believe that if everyone did that, droughts would be a lot less severe.
I never leave the water running when I brush my teeth. The laundry only gets done when there is a full load. We plant flowers/shrubs that rarely require watering.
I think my favorite way to conserve water is to shower with my husband!

hahahahaha - good one. I'll let my significant other know. ;-) After all, we need to do our part in this whole drought issue.
And thanks for the previous comment about the well guy - I don't think he understood very well where I was coming from. Plus, the County is not gonna let me dig a well on my tiny front yard!

my country has not yet entered into the state of dought but to you i would advice having shower 10 min a day will not help the country from getting away from drought...
the best way i would suggest is invest in making a well or getting a borewell dugged up...

Taking shorter showers will make a difference.
In a true drought situation, having a well wont help! The well can go dry also. The important part really is conserving water all of the time.

Ahh drought - As I and probably any other Australian hanging around can tell you there's a few things we can all do to conserve water. We've been in drought/on water restrictions here in Aust. for I don't know how long.
You can do things like when you're washing make the water go directly onto your lawns/plants etc by running a long hose from your washing machine. If you need to water lawns aside from only doing it every other day etc do it late evening or early morning. Get rain water tanks sorted out now, so when it does finally rain again you can use them instead of mains water where possible. Have half flush instead of full flush toilets etc. Use gray water (washing machine, dishwater etc) whenever possible for lawns, cleaning certain things etc. Make sure you have no dripping taps, you'd be surprised how quickly that water adds up

Well we have rain water harvesting systems. So we experience heavy rains and these water are saved in the special designed tanks without wasted
