Is your infected just because somene saids that you are? |
|
I was working on my computer all a sudden some program flashed talking about I need to download a program so I won't be infected, do you trust sources like that? my girl-friend told me that some program popped up telling her to download this program to keep form being infected, she got a Virus doing so. I alresdy have Avg, and it runs about 3:00am everyday. should I trust this program or let my my Avg do the Job? I get confused about this?

marciascott (11745) | 8 months ago | Well, I thought it was kind of strange, and I am not going to trust that. I have AVG, like I said so AVG can fix it. I hope! Why do people try to be so sneaky trying to make you get a Virus? I started to download it, but then I thought about what my girlfriend said.

2. tonyllenium (2054) | 8 months ago | normally if you are surfing and you see some pop up windows or something like that saying you that your computer is infected is just an advertising to convince people downloading the anti-virus or security programs advertised!!So normally i don't trust about this message, in fact if you have anti-virus running or other programs deals with security for your computer working i think it will be ok!!So you Avg,i think you downloaded the free edition and i can say this is really aggod ani-virus for your computer..surely if you want a maximum level of security may be other software as anti-spyware-malaware,protect passwrod and so on..you will reach level good!!

marciascott (11745) | 8 months ago | So you are saying that you might need back-up sometimes, like another Anti Virus Protection?
| |
|
|
Residual (849) | 8 months ago | No, you can only have one anti virus running at one time. If you try to you are going to have conflicts between them and that could cause problems.
| |
|
|
marciascott (11745) | 7 months ago | yes I have heard that, that you are nit suppose to run them at the sametime myComputer Guy installed AVG. I had Norton AntiVirus Protection but I switched to AVG. It is set up to run at 3:00am everyday.

3. Residual (849) | 8 months ago | Best thing to do is shut your computer down so that it won't get infectedand restart it.
I thought I gave you some other protection outside of AVG. If you are using AVG do you keep it updated also do you keep your anti spyware updated. If you are using AVG set it for automatic scan at a time of day when you have your computer on but are using it. That way you will get a scan every day also what ever spyware do the same but make the different times.
I use Spyware Terminator they have a free one that is good. Iused it before I upgraded and had no problems.

4. JoyfulOne (4267) | 7 months ago | This is just my opinion, but I never, ever, trust those pop-ups. The pop-up, unless it SAYS it's from AVG (or some other program on your computer) is probably not the safest choice to go with. When I have that happen, I make sure and use the AVG 'scan my computer' choice just to make sure that something isn't really there. Let AVG do it's job and ignore using the pop up. On my computer, I also have Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes that I run once or twice a week too. Those are both free programs....Ad-aware gets rid of all those cookies that get thrown on and snoop in your computer, and Malwarebytes gets rid of anything that might be malicious malware.
I also switched from AVG to that new free one: Antivir PE Classic. I like it a whole lot better than the AVG I've had for years, plus if something's trying to get on then it sends a pop up right from the Antivir program (and you KNOW it's their pop up and not some random one trying to give you a virus or something.) I did get a virus a couple of weeks ago, but that was because I downloaded a program and didn't run it through an antivirus check first before opening it....duh!!! Also, that was before I switched from AVG to AntiVir.

6. catdla1 (2768) | 7 months ago | Do NOT Load It! My husband got a pop-up like that a couple of years ago and ended up with a virus too. It's almost impossible to close some of those pop-ups. In some of them, just attempting to close the ad starts loading the program/virus. The once or twice that I've gotten them, I've rebooted my computer to avoid messing with it.

9. stephcjh (22992) | 7 months ago | I see stuff like that sometimes and I do not trust it at all. I use Norton Antivirus software and I will only trust what it tells me I have or should do. You have to be so careful as to what you download. I would let AVG do the job.

| 10. vjsham (11) | 7 months ago | we don't trust it most of the time..wht u can do is..jz ignore it..but let ur AVG keep running and scanning everyday because browsing the net itself will make ur computer at risk..viruses are everywhere..so..hv a gd antivirus and check ur files all the time..a suggestion when u hv not-deleted virus..u jz open it with notepad and delete the contents then delete the virus file..it wont appear again..it works for simple viruses like worm..
