Oil prices surge in 2008 and then dive near the end of the year and recovers quite a lot this year.
During the oil price surge, people are saying that why they have to pay so high price for the oil to feed their cars. They want something cheaper and electric car seems to be the answer.
In fact, it is long waited for the electric car to appear as it is a long wanted thing years ago. This year, pure electric cars are beginning to roll out to the market. The price of these cars seem not as cheap as those running on gasoline. So, do you think they will get popular? Don't forget that when more and more people switch to use electric cars, the demand for gasoline will drop meaning that the price of gasoline should also go lower.

I would go for electric car too. I heard that GM will bring out an electric run of vehicle during 2010. For the first 40 miles, the car will run on electricity. Afterward, it will alternate back to gasoline. What is your take on this car?

Hello faisai. I think that there is possibility that electric cars will be popular in the future if they are cheap with the functions as good. I advocate that more people use this kind of car as it is friendly to the environment.

I think there is a chance that electric cars will become more popular in the future. They have already built an electric sports car that it as fast as its petrol equivalent, and soon they should perfect that technology. What it needed is for the cars to be able to go further on a single charge than they do now. Hybrid cars - ie. part gas, part electric are getting quite popular. Who knows where technology will take us next.

Electric cars as of today can only be popular in big cities where traffic is slow and you need small cars. Also distances are small too. Since most electric cars can not run more than 30 to 40 miles per full recharge of batteries so if the distances are long it would be useless and also the speed is issue because they dont run more than 25 to 30 mph. I dont think as of today they can replace gasoline cars . may be in future that there can be lots and lots of improvement in their technology and until they can match the performance of gasoline cars, electric cars wont be as popular.
