Valkerie is more of a history lesson than it was a movie

I watched this movie last night and enjoyed the history lesson I got out of it. I am a big American History buff and so World War 2 was always of great interest to me. Although this movie is about things that happened in Germany as Hitler's own people tries to assasinate him. My question is, did anyone else see this movie and what did you think about the lesson it taught. I was always under the impression that none of the German people went against what Hitler was doing as he killed Jews throughout Germany. It has always scared me to think that someone that evil existed, yet here he was. A little tip, if you haven't seen the movie and are planning to, it is a good idea to know a little of Germany's history when it was "Hitler's Germany". It will help you to understand a little better about what is going on. The movie doesn't do a good job in describing to the audience what is going on as things happen. If you don't know your WW2 history. What did you all think of this movie? I thought it was good, just not for someone that doesn't know what was going on at the time. You might find yourself very confused.

I am not into war movies or Hitler era Germany movies or anything related to the relevant history of that period. I am over the Anne Frank story, etc. I guess I just don't want to keep rehashing that stuff. It's important for it to exist for the obvious reasons but I'm just not interested.

World War 2, Hitler and the mass killing of Jews and others who tried to help them is a very important issue. It is important to remember where we came from. If we don't remember our history, we are bound to repeat it in the future. This movie wasn't a re-telling of the War itself nor the killing of Jews. You may be "over" the Ann Frank story but I am sure that she is not. I don't know, taking such a non-caring attitude about such things suprises me but to each his own. I prefer to know our past, as a world, than to not know about it. Who is to say it couldn't happen again?

I already said it is important for those stories as films to exist and I also said the reason for which is obvious. There are plenty of people who feel the same way about other topics such as the trading of African slaves in the United States or what happened with the indigenous Americans when Europeans arrived in the "new world."

I watched this movie last Friday. This story is more on the other side of Germany, who is willing to fight Hitler to save their country. I think this is a very inspiring movie. Tom Cruise really did a good job in portraying his role. I can recommend this to those people who loves movies such as 'The Pianist and 'Schindler's List'.
