The once greatest footballer in England is currently stuck in Newcastle, and with little news about his transfer to the top leauge, will he be driven into oblivion forever?

There are rumours going around at a possible £4million deal to Man U, but also that some of the senior Liverpool players are telling Benitez that he can play a role at Liverpool. As a Liverpool fan would be happy to see him back at the club and believe that he could be useful coming off the bench if they are having diffculty scoring

It would be a fairy tale ending if Michael Owen returns to Liverpool!

It's unfortunate that Newcastle United was relegated. Owen used to be a dreaded striker and a great footballer. Age and injury have led to his current dwindling fortune. My joy is to see him play top flight soccer again. However, we have to accept the reality that the chance of Owen returning to a great team and form is fifty-fifty at best. Well, I wish him the very best of luck in his playing career otherwise he should retire in style.

Given his injury problems, I think Michael Owen should do a Gary Lineker and move into commentary. Otherwise I fear he will be forgotten. The problem is, he has not behaved badly to make himself notorious, so his skills will be forgotten, except by the genuine fans. I think he would make a great commentator; he's easy on the eye and has a wealth of experience to bring into the studio. Nice to talk about someone other than Ronaldo for a change!
