Has computers and televisions replaced reading habit?  

maybe for some it has..bust most of the time...when you start reading that good book and it captures you...then the internet and the tv just get turned off.

hi suj123,most extent TV and Internet replaced the reading habit, but boos are printing and reprinting, no body cannot forget the reading habit, still i am reading spiritual telugu books, if i have some time and money to read and purchase good books

Its really sad that a lot of people are turning to televison instead of reading

no I dont think so. Students still need books in school or university and I am sure more people than just me find reading on the net, the so called e books too tiring for the eyes and also not as satisfactory as reading a real book

I moved one month ago, and for around 15 days, I didn´t have internet or cable access, so for doing something in my free time, I read a lot of books. Each night and evening I was reading something. Then finally the provider of internet and cable came to set everything up, and now im reading much less than when I didn´t have internet or tv. So yes, internet and cable kill the habit of reading. And for example, newspapers, or magazines, I read them online.

To some it has.. they spend more time with social sites, online games or watch the recent telenovela they can find in the tv. But to some reading is still more exciting than doing those. I am more of mix. I play online games but still nothing beats a good book and I still prefer reading books than playing games. Even prefer it over ebooks. Coz with books you can find a good spot where you can sit and relax while enjoying a good book.

The experience one gets from reading can not be replaced by TV. Reading is a gateway for endless journey's of the imagination. When TV and movies replaced the imagined version of a book's imagery you are looking at someone else's concept and not usually the author's. Each has it's own value and computers are a whole other category. Reading at the computer is convenient to a degree but then so are audiobooks.
