What's the deal with violent womens' country songs?

My wife and I started discussing this the other night, mostly being silly, but there does seem to be a trend: Women country singers have a lot of pent-up anger or soemthing.
I'll just give you a few: "Goodbye Earl" (Dixie Chicks), "Before He Cheats" (Carrie Underwood), "Kerosene" and "Gunpowder & Lead" (Miranda Lambert) :: Have fun and find some more!
Is there some backlash against the "old boy's club" mentality here? Is it just country music? Do female rappers, for instance, get violently even with men in their songs?

It is the music. If I had to sing that crap, I'd be angry and lash out too! The whole genre is based off of 'sorry I am alive' life experiences, and gosh darn my luck for being born in Alabama...lol
+Country men cheat...but with country women (usually a cousin) and they are all angry about being losers. I heard lyrics the other day (while I was in a restaurant no less) "...I'd like to check you for ticks"...that kinda sums up their meaningless existence, eh?

That's precious. Violent lyrics as a backlash against having to sing country music! I will smile a little more today thinking of your answer!

I think every style of music has it's cheating songs and that's what these are. Male singers do them, too. There's a market for them...folks like to hear them when they're going through some personal pain...so the industry is always going to promote them. I've got another one for you. Taylor Swift's "Shoulda said no".

I think alot of this country music by the women is life! I love those type of songs! They are great! I love it nad hope there are more songs like the ones you mention! It is about time! Men have been bashing women for years in country songs! In some of the men who are rappers rap about how badly women are treated and that it is ok! It is discrimation to women, rap is! It is sickening! Counrty music there is probaly some backlash but it is also pretty true! Don't forget fun!!

The fun part is definitely what makes these songs popular. I wonder, though, if there are some men in Nashville watching their property a little more closely now?
