What is gravity made of? And how can it be bent?

I think it was the special theory of relativity that explained about gravity being a "bending" of space-time, and it proved more accurate than the Newtonian formula of Force = mass divided by distance squared - Unfortunately you will need to see the actual works for more details. Steven Hawkings "A Brief History in Time" did a marvelous job in giving it in more layman's terms, but it took several chapters ...

Gravity is an attractive force that exists between any two object, masses or particles. And with if distance increases, the force decreases. And gravity being bent? I don't think how can it be? Usually it is proved that the Space being bent by Gravity.
