Stop to smell the rose or watch the petals fall?

I have been sitting here tonight responding to a lot of different discussions..And there is one thing that I weirdly find in common.. It seems like we are all searching for someone or something. And we are in a hurry.. I stopped for a second and thought.. Could it be that we are just missing the big picture in life? Instead we are focused in on the little pieces of the puzzle? Yes money is somewhat important it helps us get the things we want and need in life.. In the end does it really make us happy? Does not seem like it. For example, you are crapping your pennies together to get the rent paid for the month.. YOU do it, that bill is PAID IN FULL.. Instead of enjoying the moment of having that bill paid, its on to the next one or the next months rent... What ever happen to enjoying the small things in life??? We will always have bills to pay for the rest of our lives... Or others are looking for the love of their life... Is it possible that, that person is standing right in front of you, or is the one that pours your cup of coffee at the local restaurant but you are too much in a hurry to see them... Then one day maybe realizing that they were there but now they are gone...
Life is very full for all of us, with our daily obligations..sometimes too full to stop to smell that beautiful rose that is in full bloom.. But then we are able to slow down enough and that rose has wilt away, leaving behind the petals of the rose on the ground... Is that really what we are all living for? To always be in a hurry to get no where... A day off from work usually consists of a do list that is mile long that is never ending... Leaving very little or no time to just live life to its fullest... What ever happen to the child that is within us? Quietly touched away in a little space never to appear again? Instead this grown up that is stressed, over weight, and under paid...
My question to my fellow mylotters is Do you ever stop to smell the rose in full bloom or do you wait until the petals have fallen?

This is interesting, not only because of how old the post is, but also the situation I am in right now.
My daughter planted three rose bushes in a flower bed next to the house near the front door. As some know, we have to move from this house after living there for almost 20 yrs.
During the many many walks around the house I have been watching one of the rose bushes growing many new buds. Yes in the end of Oct, there were several. Thing is the day we are doing the major move one of these beautiful rose buds opened. A beautiful white with red in it. What came to mind when observing the rose was the time we planted the rose bushes, the laughter we shared with how they would bloom in years to come. No we did not have time to dig them up and take them with us. The new owners did not give us respect enough to be able to do this. They just want us out of their way. Thing is it is the church 2 doors down that did this to us.
Life has a way of giving back what is given. As we moved that day, God showed me the beauty that was shared and gave hope of more to come. That is how I look and feel about it.
So yes, we need to take the time to notice, to feel, to see, to hear, to know what is going on sometimes, moment by moment to live and feel life.

I am sorry that you all were not able to take the rose bushes with you.. Those where growing really good the last time I was there.. I totally agree with your last sentence! I have changed some of my routines so I can enjoy a day at the park once or twice a week with the boys.. Or just going for a ride, laughing enjoying the time that we are having within the moment.. And not allowing anything else interfere with that moment..

Maybe she will plant some new ones. Time will tell. This is their home so I have to watch and see what they will do to make life grow here for them.
Yes, children need to learn to take that time..

Hey,
Well I usually stop to smell the rose, my mother usually does this. But as you have also said, money doesn't actually make us happy. I think that money mainly buys leisure but not wisdom nor happiness. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Well said.. I do not think money can buy wisdom... That's one of those priceless items, can not truly be bought or sold... but given and received.. Thank you for your response have a good day and God bless you too.

Hi, sjvenden!
My husband and I have been workaholics since we were actually too young to hold jobs. Several years ago, after many discussions with very wise friends, we decided to give it a break. Stopping to smell the roses is a life-saving activity. Watching them die, however, is downright depressing. When it's too late, the time has been lost!

This is a very good discussion and I appreciate it a lot, thank you for sharing your point of view first of all and make us think.
There are times in life where we just forget about having blessed with a life and we waste our time in something less important then only we realise that we are missing or we have missed something much more important in life maybe it is not about getting money but about being with someone wheh that person needed you the most and you were not there.
Life is the echoe we are told to give our best to get a great deal back but have we ever think of instead enjoying the moments life is offering us rather that always giving to receive!
We might be forgetting that nature exist, that there are people around who wait for you at home to sit together and have dinner and we are always rushing to complete work for a tomorrow which might not exist too.
So life is wonderful and we should be happy as we are blessed with life and we should be enjoying every moments as it comes.
I am running after work too. To be honest then I am studying also to get a great degree and earn much than I get right now so I am maybe neglecting some moments which could have been more wonderful to me. I cannot say that I am someone who is stopping to smell the rose but I am also not waiting for the petal to fall because I do what I can to be able to sit with those whom I love a lot in life. I just hope that I succeed to stop for atleast some time to smell the roses with my love ones.
