Text books or Digital Books...Which one do you prefer?? |
|
Well Arnold Schwarzenegger prefers Digital books rather than normal text books. As text books are too costly and are burden to students to carry etc.,Students and even kids are going for E-books than those text books.By doing this California saves $340 millions I guess... But different people prefer different ways of studying,So which way do you study or prefer your kids to study?E-books or text books?? Please share your opinion with us..

1. spicysweetie21 (1377) | 7 months ago | I don't like the cost of text books, but just with my personal learning style, I do a lot better reading something on paper, even with lecture notes that are posted online from my college classes, I always print them up because I understand them better if I read them on paper rather than reading it on a screen, i think its because i spent 12 years of school reading things on paper that its too late for me to adjust to something digital but maybe the future generations can

2. gunagohan (897) | 7 months ago | i prefer text books.. the whole satisfaction of reading is achieved only when i read through text books...u cannot read through digital books all day long..
u see the power required for monitor (LCD, TFT, CRT) is very much higher than making a paper book...then papers can be recycled and i could see the text book for hours, but u cannot see the screen for more than 5 hours... u retina will get damaged.. reading digitally in Laptop??? think of the cost??
so i solemnly prefer text book..
happy to respond.. happy mylotting...

ra1787 (228) | 7 months ago | I completely agree it is definetely better to read on the book made of paper, the real pleasure of reading is also in the physical book: turning the pages, touching the paper and the smell of printed paper when it is new. I would not trade it for a cold computer screen sorry I love technology but books are meant to be books at least for most of the uses.

3. georginaswift86 (100) | 7 months ago | I don't study but I do enjoy reading... a book. The last thing I want to do when settling down to enjoy a novel is turn on my lap top and have to stare at the screen in order to do this.
I don't understand why we are using technology to replace everything. If it is not broke, don't fix it. I appreciate that EBooks are probably better for the environment but it makes the ideas evoked from films like iRobot and The Matrix seem more like realistic predictions.

4. francheskie (814) | 7 months ago | Textbooks, with their weight and ability to empty wallets, may have another thing coming. I would prefer e-books because it would be cheaper and I wouldn't have to carry around heavy textbooks all the time "It's just easier online". Students can't return an e-book and get their money back the way they could with a hard copy, but it works well for those who don't want piles of books at the end of each semester.

6. wifeofharvey (906) | 7 months ago | I love having e-books!!! Where ever I am, I can have all the reference books I need. I can high light text, make notes whatever. And all of that without having to lug around a bunch of hard copy, heavy weight books. I don't do a lot of studying any longer, except bible studies. But with those too, I can have a whole library of reference books along with me. And store a huge amount of information on very small, easy to transport devices such as cds or memory drives. Incredible!!!! Such a great thing to have.

| 7. SiddFisher (61) | 7 months ago | I prefer text-books to ebooks, although I would love to read stuff on the computer rather than carry the books along with me the whole time. As long as computer display harms the eye I would read stuff on paper. I already have a -5.0 eye power.
The other reason is that textbooks have a good sight to them. When I look at my bookshelf I feel a sense of pride and happiness. With ebooks you'll not have that feel good factor.
The drawback of books though is that the use valuable resources.

| 8. narainsa (20) | 7 months ago | well... i have tried reading a lot of ebooks but the best i could do was read a max of 10 pages...:D
i'd anyday prefer reading text books instead of e-books... few simple reasons being... 1. you can carry your book wherever you want... (imagine carrryin a laptop or even worse a desktop... lolz... ) 2. People wouldn't want to steal books... 3. Reading ebooks, people have a tendency to switch to games... the level of concentration is not there.... 4. For weak eyed people... chances are that yor eyes will get ruined further...:D

9. michmich2 (349) | 7 months ago | While they're definitely a burden to carry, I think I prefer textbooks over e-books when it comes to studying. I have a kindle and read regular books for pleasure on it all the time, but I like to be able to page through my textbooks and have multiple books open in front of me. I also like to be able to highlight and make notes in the margins. I know that these things are possible with some e-books also, but for me, I think I'll always study with physical books!
