Ive been dancing since grade school. Though not devoted and consistent enough to call myself a 'dancer'. Although i've been involved with other activities/hobby like music and sports, my passion for dancing never seized. a few months ago, i decided to join fitness first. The group exercises (especially the danced-based ones like hiphop, latin, body jam, retro, belly dancing etc) enticed me. anyway i wanted to try get a taste of different dances so i usually go for bodyjam. i intend to enroll in real classes soon. i haven't decided which yet. i'm looking into jazz or flamenco.

anyway, have you guys tried pole dancing or fire dancing? i'm so intrigued by them.
what type of dances have you tried recently? something you haven't tried before. care to share your experiences?

Well even I like to dance very much and sometimes I feel very bad that I did not pursue my career in it.Anyways I always dance on my college fests. And on my last performance I tried out salsa. Its very tough and you should really have that attitude to perform it well.I hope I gave a decent enough performance.Well this time I am planning to do a samba. But I am not really sure about that.

Both pole and fire dancing are intriguing. I have never tried either myself, however, I have seen videos of both, and some of the choreography is most inventive with a great entertainment value!

My experience lies mostly in the traditional ballet/pointe, lyrical, modern, tap, jazz, etc. categories. I have had several lessons in international dance forms, however the form I am have been researching and trying to emulate most recently has been German folk. Because my ancestors are from Germany, I feel that learning a dance form from their fatherland will bring me closer to my heritage. I also love learning about the German culture in general, mostly for that reason.

i agree. that's the beauty of its appeal (to me). Plus, it takes great skill to study and excel in those dances.

Wow, i admire your passion and versatility in dancing. I understand how you feel about studying a dance that reflects your heritage and culture. i myself intend to do the same. after pole and fire/poi dance, i'm planning to study several indigenous dances that some colleagues performed back in college. They're performed with Asian percussions . theyre also from varied influences in all parts of the Philippines.

Goodluck with your pursuit and may dancing be a venue for you to be closer to your heritage.

which is the traditional dance in your country?
I'm wonder of which dance is the most representative in your country. In my country is samba.
