Have you ever let your child decide what you'll do that day?

Sundays are usually our family day. We try to pick an activity to do each week, even if it's as simple as going to the playground, or walking around the mall. We always try to get out of the house as a family every Sunday. After our outing we'll come home and watch movies in the evening.

So yesterday we were trying to think of what to do. I was going to leave the decision up to hubby since it was Father's Day and all.

Then my 3 year old comes in the room. While hubby was deep in thought about what we could possibly do.. I said to my son "Well, tomorrow is your birthday, why don't we let you decide... what do you want to do?" I didn't really expect an answer, I figured he'd just babble on about a bunch of things like he normally does, pretending to have a real conversation with me, you know how toddlers are. Instead of the babble, he says "I want see animals"

The zoo!! That's a great idea!

So we spent Father's Day at the zoo, and we had a great time.

Yes, I allow my kids to decide where we'll go during the weekends. This is the time they always look forward to, and the time for the whole family to bond. After the kids have decided, I confer with my husband and if he's ok with the kids' choice(most of the time he agrees), off we go. Top choices are the mall, out of town visit to our relatives (so they get to see and play with their cousins), and the zoo.

It sounds like you had a lovely day! We give our children the choice of what they want to do on their birthdays, and then also let them decide where they want to go for tea. Usually they say the same, Mcdonalds haha they do not go there very often so it is like a big treat for them!

so cool thumbup thats just wonderful. its amazing how smart our 2 and 3 yr olds are these days. must be because cartoons and childrens shows and parents are better with teaching them knowledge these days. when i was raising my kids i tried to tell people why they talked and such before some others. because i didnt use baby talk and spoke to them like a person. obviously thats what most of our parents are doing today. your doing a wonderful job girl.
