Marry someone who is less educated than you? What is your view?

I'm in the same situation. I have a degree and my boyfriend doesn't. It doesn't bother me, my boyfriend has a good job that is stable and that is what really matters in the end. Now don't get me wrong, I would love for him to get a degree and maybe he will when we get a little more money because he loves computers and I know that it will make him happy. But it's all up to him. But none of my friends are surprised that I'm with him because he makes me very happy.

Well, that really depends on the people. You don't have to be a college graduate or even finish high school to be a perfectly interesting, good person. If you two love each other like I think you do, who cares what your mother (or anyone else) says? (except the glares over dinner- those can get annoying...)

i suppose that this kind of things depends on the man you`ve choosed and yourself.of course,my parents should never agree me to do that things,they think education and personailty more than himself,i don`t know what should i do if this happen to me someday,it`s really hard to make a decision that that,espeacilly i`m in love with him.

I am also married to someone who is less educated than me. I have a college degree, and he only finished high school.

In my view educated does not matter main thing is understanding between couples, I had also married with my partner who has not completed primary level. We have happy life of 1 son & 1 daughter

Oh I am okay with that a man who prioritize his family, I go with that man. There are many critics, we can pleased everybody but sometimes they think they are the one who will be making a relationship with your hubby from the way they talk. It is you will decide which way it goes, I know and I felt your decision is right. Me, I hope he is much educated than me,I hope he is a humble guy like your husband. I wish to have a loving and caring husband which are educated. Anyway our life will not complete when we don't have complete education, for me, experience is the best education. YOu can survive life from what you learned from the past and not in theory.

I wondered what on earth you are talking about until I realized that you are a woman talking about marrying a less educated man. Even in this modern world where women are supposed to be equal, they still expect prince charming to sweep them off their feet and expect him to be better than they are in earning potential.

That is what you are talking about, is it not, the expectation that women should marry "up". You expect the man to be better educated with a better job? Now that you are gaining equality and independence from traditional roles, you have to give some things up along the way. Some of the traditional stereotypes about relationships must be modified.

I don't see intelligence as being the person. The person is him/her self. As a therapist of man years experience, I have interacted with university professors and factory workers. Quite often the factory workers were wiser than the highly educated professors. Education does not bring wisdom and can quite often get in the way of an good personality.

As a Zen practitioner, I see in my wife a personality and I have never even thought whether or not she is more or less intelligent than myself. In Zen, there is great value in sweeping the yard with focus and concentration. - Derek

I don't think education has diddly squat to do with love. I can't say that I would marry someone who didn't make decent money though. In other words, I wouldn't want to be with a man who worked as a dishwasher. I may be opening myself up to a lot of flack from some people, but the truth is, I want to be with someone that has the drive to go further than that. As far as education though, people often have education but don't use it for the purpose that it was achieved to begin with. I know a guy who got a college degree and ended up delivering pizza's for Dominos. He didn't like the field that he would have had to go into. The education was his parents choice. He didn't get to choose what he wanted to go to college for. So the college education did nothing for him at all. Just a thought.

Marriage is the Main Part for every one life and it make our life's worth more..
It's makes our more work because we will maintain our family as well..
And Education is not a problem for the marriage, marriage is fixed on heaven that's truth..
If your heart which person who care you more then you will be select that person..
That person is Not need any Qualifications he just Need your Real heart Loves only not it need Any Education...
and other think you are not consider the Others opinion just make you what you want and what you like... It's your Life that is only Personal for you make decissions...
