Marry someone who is less educated than you? What is your view?

Well thhoon72 love should be more important than education.As his wife you can then help him get his high school diploma.But let me tell you something that is true.An education dont make us who we are but it helps us be better individuals and sometimes you find that people usually compete in relationships because they dont want the partner to earn more or have better jobs.If he makes you happy baby dont think twice.

I married a man that has no exams to his name he has a very good job and earns a good wage at the end of the day.I do not think this makes any difference to the person what so ever to if they are well educated or not as in most jobs you end up going on courses to get more passes then you could have done at school anyway.As long as you are happy who cares what anyone else thinks anyway.Happy Mylotting.

It is not if they are less educated but if they are willing to learn and grow as I have.

My husband and I were on equal ground when we married, and he knows a lot of things, but is not willing to learn new things and sticks to old stuff, which is annoying as heck. He will not grow and mature and I have tried hard to do so.

I love him but it makes it hard to have conversations as he is so set in his old ways and is stubborn about it.

My father never even made it to high school but was smart and willing to learn and everyone loved him, was easy to get along with and not stuck in his old ways. His lack of formal education did not stop him from being intelligent and willing to learn.

I think a lot of people have a negative perspective on it, though I would expect more from the well-educated. I do not believe that holding a degree and being intelligent go hand and hand. You have the ability to share your knowledge with your spouse. Many have achieved that piece of paper by barely getting by in their studies, cheating or even just having it handed to them. If you come across these opinions in the future, kindly point the individual in the direction of Noam Chomsky, and what he has written and said about obedience of the educational system in relation to intelligence.

I have a degree and my husband did not graduate from high school but I love him very much. He is a hard working person. If you love a person and want to spend the rest of your life with them that is what should count.

I don't think that education has really any importance when it comes to marriage. It doesn't define what kind of person they are. It doesn't even determine how intelligent they are. I've known some of the smartest high school dropouts and I've known some of the dumbest college graduates. Marriage is about love, or at least it should be, and nothing else.

Personally I think in this day and age when true love and devotion is so rare anyone who can find it and appreciate should not let something like that get in there way someone can always go back to school but can someone always find love in their lives

To me the level of education should have nothing at all to do with love. There are many well educated people who are dumb as dirt when it comes to "real Life" and dealing with day to day issues. On the other hand there are some who I would trust with my life who can barely read a book.

When we love some one we do not really think about the education what they have done. Most important thing should be considered is, Is he going to take care of me, love me and are we going to live happily or not. That is what matters. I do agree Education is important but we can not depend totally on it when it comes to marriage.
Also I have seen some families where wife has masters degree and well educated but husband is a Graduate. Now this guy got some ego problem and behaving like a hell in the family. It depends on the person to person who take it. If they think in apositive way then there won't be any problems in a family.

i see no reason against this except the supposed to be suggestion in books that in order to build less stressed life together both individuals should be more of birds of the same feather. but if fate puts them together, well, that is one more area when all time tested facts fail .
