RIP Farrah Fawcett and Shame On You CNN! |
|
It seems ever since the news of Michael Jacksons death broke Farrah Fawcett has been pushed to the back burner. For some reason CNN cannot share the spotlight between these two celebrities. CNN was supposed to run a special tonight called "Farrah Fawcett, Remembering An Angel" It has been cancelled and replaced with Remembering Michael Jackson. Larry King made the comment that with the recent death of Michael Jackson Farrah's death is now "a thing of the past" What a slap in Farrah's family's face. RIP Farrah and Shame On You CNN And Larry King!

12. divkris (763) | 6 months ago | Oh! did larry king really say that???? That was really very rude of him. I persoanlly feel that media is not taking the right route nowadays and concentrates more on the TRP rates than conveying the truth to the public (the main reason they are here for!).
It is such a shame that BIG media brands like CNN also do this - they could have rescheduled or shifted the program if they wanted MJ's prog inthe prime slot. Really it is a shame. May Farrah's soul rest in peace (and MJ's too)

13. candy2306 (471) | 6 months ago | Yes, I agree with you Marcia! CNN should never do that to anyone! How come the CNN team allow such thing to happen? This is truely irrespectful to Farrah and her family. I'm sure they've be so mad!

16. incredibleDNA (1085) | 6 months ago | It was merely a strong word from Larry yet we should just pray for Farrah's eternal peace. It is really not a good comment from Larry and I hope that when he dies, he'll not be as treated this way.

They might show Farrah's another day but maybe they should just show both the programs tonight. Give them both equal time.

Don't blame it solely on CNN.
First of all, don't you think this has much to do with commercialism, where people like you and I as viewers are the very driving force of today's news television networks? I am sure you are aware and very familiar with terms like ratings, commercial value, celebrity and most of all popularity.
Though Farrah's show has been postponed later, it is not as if they are shelving it or throwing out the window. It is just no disrespect here. I'd just like to add that MJ's death is really much more shocking and sudden here. His death is really unexpected to everyone around.
2009 is really an eventful year where we have so much losses especially in the movie industry. I hope you will not be greatly aggravated by things beyond our control especially when it is part of our own doings.
Take care.

Opal26 (9733) | 6 months ago | I'd like to say that you said pretty much what I wanted to say skysuccess and said quite eloquently. I don't want to repeat so thank you for explaining it. People unfortunately knew that Farrah was going to die and no matter how much we didn't want her to and wished her well it was inevitable and we knew it was coming soon. Michael Jackson's death was a total shock to the world. It wasn't a slight to Farrah's death by any means! She was a woman that we will always honor! I do hope you understand!

19. allisonbrk (123) | 6 months ago | But there were specials on Ed all day yesterday, then Farrah, and unfortunately a bigger star passed away on the same day and it overshadowed her. Sure they should have showed specials on her, but MJ was an international phenomenon... CNN is a business. You have to keep ratings in mind. MJ is going to bring in a lot more viewers than Farrah. Sure it isn't the right thing to do, but since when has big money been about doing the right thing?
