Now That Ciao Is Going To Close Soon Need To Know Something

As many Ciao review members knows, as of July 1st, the Ciao review site is to be no more...for the past week I've been copying my reviews (have 134) so I can submit them to Associated Content for page views only since technically speaking my reviews were published previously...so can't submit them as upfront payment.
I have a question for Helium, Gather and any other writing sites...I do belong to Helium and Gather but haven't done anything with either for awhile...BUT...was wondering, can one place previously published work there as well? Are their any other sites I can submit previously published work???

I think if you change some of the wording around you might be able to call it new work. Do you think that is possible? I mean like what we write here. Is this writing as in serious writing or is it just nonsense writing? I mean to say it's not what I would call call A writing like you would put in a book and publish and sell a million copies of it or is it? We are only getting paid a penny for this work at best. So how can this be considered real serious writing? The same with ciao? I mean they never paid you more than three cents for anything, so how can that be considered serious work? I don't know how it all works when you are a writer. I have no idea so I am lost that is why I am asking these stupid questions cause I have no idea. But I would think that if you wanted to protect yourself you are doing the right thing by copying all your work before it is gone that's for sure. I have no idea if you can use it again the way it is written word for word. But I would think that if you change it around a bit you can use it again. But I have no idea. Is there some kind of writers guild you can write to and ask that kind of question to?

One more thing, if you are a serious writer do you think that everything you write like even these blogs and answers no matter how long or short. Do you think you should copy all that work also? I mean like these few short questions I just asked here? Because I am thinking of becoming a serious writer so I am curious? I am thinking that all my words are precious and need to be saved no matter how smart or silly I sound. What do you think?

You must have joined Ciao after things went haywire there. When I first joined there, one could make $1.00 per review..if it was a first time review one got a dollar bonus...I made $90 my first month...LOL.
As for "serious" writing here...lol...many of my ideas here that I write about I expand greatly into article ideas. As for changing words around. Not such a simple case..in AC for instance if one submits an article for exclusive up-front payment that's it...it's theirs...even changing a few words here and there would be a violation in their eyes

You have over ten thousand discussions and posts here at mylot. Say that they were changing and you had to copy all that work what would you do? That is an amazing amount of stuff you have done. Do you copy on a regular basis or just hope that never happens?

I just got done copying my reviews from ciao yesterday. I'm at Helium to but don't really care for it, since they changed what categories they do and don't pay for. And making money there is mad slow, unless you spend all your time on that site.
At the moment I don't know of any other sites wish I did. Stay away from reviewstream though. I hear they are bad. Are you still at compareby you?
I still have to get my reviews from there, even though there are only 3 I think.

a second thought here, perhaps we should contact ciao and ask what will happen to our reviews and where they will go, and if anyone will ever see them again anywhere on the web, and if it is safe to repost our origanal reviews. That way we will know where we stand.

I just finished copying all my work at Ciao too..had 134 reviews (sheesh) I belong to Helium as well and don't understand how it works now either...LOL--shows you how inactive I've been there. As I mentioned elsewhere...as far as reposting reviews from Ciao to AC I place a copyright notice, date it was first published and indicate that the article/review was published at Ciao under my pen-name of pyewacket..I use my real name at AC---Kaitlin of Ciao actually told me this a long time ago to do that so no one could accuse me of plagiarizing (even though it's my own work) I know about reviewstream and heard horror stories about them. CPU has turned out to be a disappointment too...they've change their rules so much and I'm only $2.00 away from payment but not a chance I can get it now

I know Helium allows it apart from AC. Were your reviews so long as 400 words? I have not tried CIAO. Helium needs 400 word articles and you need to modify your reviews if it is less than 400 words.

LOL--my reviews at Ciao often were more than 800 words...so no problem about length...

i would think you could,it's your body of work.
unless there was something there that stated ceedance of rights after they paid,i would think you could publish it where ever you like.if they remove the active links, how would they know anyway?

I specifically add a copyright notice, date and mention that my reviews were previously published at ciao as a just in case someone sees the article re-published and say I'm plaigiarizing...my "name" at ciao was different than at AC--a friend of mine from Ciao started republishing her reviews at sharedreviews...and don't you think someone reported her as plagiarizing even though they were her OWN articles?

Hi pyewacket,I have just came to know about a new site where you can earn money by posting reviews.I have not joined it yet but I have heard that they are paying 2 dollars per review and the minimum payout in the site is 50 dollars.I think you can give it a try.

A few of my friends there (many MyLotters are there too) told me that they wrote scores of reviews and reaching near payout of the $50...all of a sudden they would get a notice that they didn't approve all the reviews and deleted not only the reviews but the person's account--these were honest people writing good reviews---so I just didn't want to chance it that they would do the same to me

Hi pyewacket,It is really shocking to hear this what you are saying.I heard things completely different to this.A lot of people say me that reviewstream is a good site to earn money and the site is genuine.I was thinking of working in the site, thanks for your caution,I will rethink about this.

hi pye,
I haven't a clue about all those sites, but since Ciao is closing, will you be getting paid for all your work that you have put in on that site or have you lost the money? they should pay you in full, good luck in all you do.
Bright Blessings.
Tamara

When I first joined Ciao they still paid $1.00 per review...if you reviewed something for the first time you got a $1.00 bonus...I made out like a bandit the first month there earning $90.00 and yes they paid. When they changed the rules to only page view payment it would take me two or months to earn the minimum of $5.00..I don't know if they will now pay what is due all of us this final time though...I have $4.24 due me

I left Gather, but when I was there people would often put their other material up. Or they would put it on AC then talk about it and link to it. I am not sure if that is still the case, but it could be.

I know that it can be done on Helium. You have a good idea there, I hadn't even thought to submit them anywhere else.
I don't know about you, but I was not all that happy when I found out that CIAO would be no more. I actually enjoyed that site!

Yes I had enjoyed Ciao myself, but they had way too many problems with plagiarizers which caused it's "demise"
