I have. Target was such a great bargain place to go! I'd go every Tuesday and get the unadvertised sales along with the other regular sales and add to that my coupons and it was so great. Especially on kids clothes, DVD's, toys and shoes! Even Payless Shoes had great sales and JC Penneys. But recently I have noticed that the sales are not as low as they used to be and the unadvertised sales (at target) are hardly there anymore. Even Target's Dollar bins have slimmed down and they have $2.50 bins now. Borders book store had coupons and great bargains and Ikept my GD's in books for really cheap for awhile there. Kohl's is still pretty good sales and bargains, but I have noticed it there also on some things.. mostly kitchen supplies. I have even noticed that resturants menus prices have gone back up. Guess the recession is over! Was nice while it lasted!!!
Are prices raising where you are?

I think that this is the reason why it may be a wise move to spend rather than to save during recession. The fact is that when recession starts, price crushes and sales are everywhere so we can make purchases at lower prices. Then, when recession starts to fade, prices shoot up before our wages and that probably is quite a bad time.

Yeah, the Dollar stores really benefited from the economic problems! Most likely that that were new to the store will stay so the stores will continue to do well... guess I should look at buying stock in them!!!
As for the gas.. don't give it to much credit... gas goes up every single year the week before Memorial Day and doesn't come down until the week after Labor Day... histroically. Why? Vacation time. More gas is used in the summer time, so they raise their prices to make more money. Come fall when it slows down, it won't go back to the around $2 it was in APril but it won't continue to go up as much. Granted, last summer with it at $5 a gallon had something to do with the economy, however, it dropped much lower as drastically as it went up that high.. which only means there's a stinking rat in the pile somewhere.. but it will stay higher all summer long. Just hope it goes back down enough come fall.. ANother thing they do is think..."well, they are all used to paying a higher price, all we have to do is lower it 10 cents a gallon and drivers will be so happy that it is "lower" that they won't mind paying the higher price than they were 3 months ago."

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I wonder what the heck is going on. If there is a supposed recession, shouldn't prices be somewhat affordable, instead of going up, or are people hoping to gauge the last bit of money out of their fellow humans? AARRGGHH. What's the point of raising prices when no one can afford 'em?

Isn't that the dumbest thing... raise prices cause people can't afford that lower price it was? Restuarnt I noticed did that... the dinner was $12.99 and no one was eating out as they couldn't afford it, so the restuant raised the price of the meal by a dollar or so... good grief... if a person can't afford $12.99, what makes the resturant think they can afford $13.99? How stupid is that!?!??! But they did it.
And to, I think alot of people have seen the error of their ways and not spending as much so they have it when they need it. I read sevearl times in the last couple weeks that spending is stilldown, but savings are up. And of course the money fed guys ar saying.. "spend! If you don't spend and put the money back into the economy, we will never come out of this. You have to spend money to make money".
Fine and dandy but since stores don't look at it that way.. we consumers can only do so much...price it to where we can afford it and we will spend. but if we can't afford your prices.. we have no choice but to save until we can afford it and that might be sometime down the road and in that time we have decided we really didn't need that item in the first place or got a used one and it is just fine.

I don't shop much at Target as the Target here is an accident waiting to happen as far as getting in & out of the place (ie too much traffic & poor layout of the roadway).
I dunno, it depends on what you are shopping for as to if the price has increased or decreased. Aldi's has had some awsome specials like a couple weeks ago they had strawberries for .49 a 1lb pkg! And the local big grocery chain has had alot of good deals on prices wich end up being cheaper than Aldi's to my surprise but usually those are the only items I buy are the ones on their flashback pricing. Like they've had ice cream cones last week for .58 a pkg, whereas Aldi's is .99, but otherwise P&S is close to $2.
You just have to know your prices and what you are willing to pay for stuff.
