Summer VAcation-- schools out parents what do you think?

Only my 16 year old has finished school as all his exams are over and done with and that is him done until September when he goes into the six form.
For my other 4 children they still have another three weeks of school to go. I am sort of looking forward to the summer holidays but am dreading it as well.
I do enjoy the company of my children but it can at times be hard finding something to do that everyone enjoys.
But it will not be so bad this time as we are off to Ireland for the six weeks holiday with just the youngest three.
I am just hoping for good weather as we are 15 minutes drive for the nearest beach.

Summer vacation ruins all routines I have in my house! This year I decided to send my 9 yr old daughter to summer camps. She is going to day came this week for basketball and loves it. She is tired when she gets home, so the day is pretty relaxed. Next week she goes to a week long camp at the lake. I think she will love it! It was very expensive, but just to keep her occupied it will be worth it.

After that, she is stuck here with me. I run a daycare and some days she helps while others she is sick of the other kids coming here. It will be an interesting summer.

I think for me it is a little bit of both. I was dreading summer vacation because my girls who are 6 and 4 were fighting constantly. I thought it would only get worse when they had to spend all day every day together. But actually it hasn't been that bad. They had been sharing a room by choice so we separated their rooms and they seem to be getting along a little better. I think part of the fighting was like you said, the older one thought she could boss her sister around and tell her how to play. Her friends do that to her at school so she was bringing it home.

well, it is absolutely time for a lot of un with your children.

during our days, we would always visit our grandparent's place and have a great deal of fun. it is the time for a nice vacation with your children.

Summer is a great time to bond. Mother or father must be in control. Provide activities the whole family can enjoy together. Communicate to the children how important their roles are to your family.

I'm not a parent, but have fond memories of summer vacation. From a kids point of view, it's all about freedom. No more getting up early to bath, get dressed, and get shoved out the door by parents you thought loved you(I know they do love me, but still it's kinda messed up how they kicked me out of the house every morning.)

I remember everyday feeling like Saturday morning. I'd get up and eat cereal, watch cartoons, go outside and play with friends, etc. It was grand. After a while though, that routine got just a tad bit stale. Leading up to the impending new school year, I'd start to sleep in. I basically turned into a grizzly two weeks before going back to school.

That probably explains my metabolism being so low during the school year.

Hello friend. We are also starting to have the summer vacation now. But my son is not going to have his summer vacation because he will be Senior III next semester, or to be exact, he is now in his third year of the senior high school. It is now a period of time that is very stressful for students of his grade as they are going to take the national college entrance examination in June next year. They have to study at school together with their teachers. I am looking forward to his graduation from senior high school and passing the national college entrance examination next year so that he can go to a good college or university. Take care.

I used to look forward every summer also, not having to send my daughter off to school and dealing with homework, etc. She makes it miserable for us all of the time though. there is nothing we can do for her to make her happy.

your hands must be full with the twins and the daughter. I do not have kid. My mother used to teach me more lessons during summer. I was always a quite kid.
