What Questions Do People Ask You About ADHD?`  | |  I am putting together a booklet meant to help people without ADHD understand those in their lives who do have it. It is a booklet mostly about adult ADHD, with some references to children. The first section is meant to explain ADHD simply, and to clear up misconceptions and myths about ADHD. So I was wondering, if you have ADHD, what questions have people asked you about ADHD? Or, if you DON';T have ADHD, what things have you always wondered about? Thanks!

These are the ones who think medicating is wrong and use examples of children who are not being medicated with the proper doses as proof.

| | | 2. bziebarth (148) | 4 months ago | I usually do not get as many questions as I do opinions. The first opinion is usually, "I do not believe that ADHD is real" or some variation of that. I do not blame them because I used to believe the same thing. The first day that I took my medication, my opinion changed forever.
All my life my parents had told me to "think before you speak". I never understood this statement. Everything I said, I just said, there was no forethought at all. There were several times that I knew I should not have said that but I had no control over it. After medication, I understood what my parents meant. I was able to think about what I was going to say before I said it.
Maybe that short story will help with your pamphlet. It is just one of many things I have found out about ADHD. For your research, I would recommend reading any of Dr. John Ratey's books. They offer great insight into ADHD. | |
