Is There Anybody Out There Who Can Identify An Orb? | | I ask this because I visited Bodiam Castle, in East Sussex, a couple of weeks ago, and whilst I was there, I took quite a few photos. I hadn't noticed anything previously, whilst either shooting or uploading the pics, but tonight, I posted them to my social networking site, and was quite surprised to see three orbs, in the same turret of the castle, but in different places.
I've zoomed into the photo attached to this discussion and the suspected orb has a light ring around a circle of light, with a shadow in the middle. I would like more opinions on this please, as at first, I thought it might be a spot from my camera, but taking into consideration the height of the object, then that's almost out of the question. Does anybody here take an interest in, or study orbs? If so, I would be really interested in hearing your views on this picture.
Unfortunately, I can only post one picture in the discussion but if anybody wishes to see the others, I'll post them in your response area... just ask. Bodiam Castle has a bit of history attached to it. It was built up in the 12th century, but there was a building equivalent to one turret there from Anglo Saxon times, stated to be the 5th-6th century. In the 12th century, a knight married the landowner's daughter and thus became the Lord of Bodiam Manor. This particular turret where the suspected orbs are, is at the southeast corner of the castle.
That's about all the gen I can give you other than that the turret was divided into floors, and on each floor there was a room where servants slept. What do you think... could this be an orb? Please... I need opinions!:)

On there is a guy...Jeff Archer who has a website on this very topic and its pretty interesting. go into my profile and just click on the site. ok?

Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | Ok... thank you for the tip. I do know basically what orbs are but they do differ, and I wasn't absolutely sure on this one. Therefore, I wanted a few opinions and details of what people saw in it... whether an orb, or the possibility of something else. It seems that the general consensus points to it being an orb, and the website I was given in an earlier response shows very similar pictures of orbs, so I think it is definitely the real thing. However, I shall follow your instructions and see what JA says.
Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings.

Perhaps in future discussions, if you have had haunting tales, you can share with all of us. I would definitely love to read. Or if you have previous discussions on it.

Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | It wasn't a case of being brave, my friend, as I didn't notice it until I uploaded it to one of my albums on my site. lol. However, I have seen orbs before, which haven't harmed me, so they don't worry me unduly.
I have a few haunting tales, which I shall certainly relate through discussions, as I feel others are quite interested in the paranormal. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution.

zed_k4 (4441) | 5 months ago | You summed it just about right, my friend. I love to watch and read on paranormal stuffs, but not those that are just created for the sake of sharing a story.
I truly believe in what I saw in your pictures and they say a picture says it all. You are brave for I know that not all are like that, and I would be kind of confused and a bit wary if I were to 'see things'.
Take care too, friend and I'm working nights mostly...however going to the restroom alone would be a bit of a bummer...LOL...take care.

| | 13. cassandralynn (875) | 6 months ago | I think it's sometimes hard to say if an orb is legit or not. The orb in your pic could be legit considering that it's very high up and I'm guessing that the 12th century built Bodiam Castle has a history of paranormal activity? I notice that orb's show up in photos more often if the place is known to be haunted.I'm not expert but I have read many books on the subject and I've had a lot of personal paranormal experiences....Did any of the other pictures you took have orbs or any unexplained images?.. I'd say it's definitely an orbs of some type, the question is if it's a orb of a ghost trying to manifest or a orb that is made of a stray dust particle.
| |
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | Yes, there were other orbs and having been asked whether the Castle was haunted, I researched it, to find out that there have indeed been reports of sightings and sounds coming from the inside of the building. So, this would perhaps indicate that they're definitely orbs. I only spotted them in that one, particular turret, which was another factor to be considered. This particular orb, if you zoom into it, has a ring of energy around it, with a duller circle of light inside it, and a shadow of something inside that. It's rather like a circular amoeba to the naked eye. That's why I wanted opinions on it. I'm pretty certain that this is a spirit orb.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend.

I reckon if you were to take a picture of your empty kitchen, or when Gissi barks or growls at something out there, especially if it's at dusk or something, you would find at least two orbs in the picture. Try it sometime!

| | 15. francheskie (753) | 6 months ago | An orb is almost always in a form of a circle. It's whiteish, or even blueish, and it means that there is a a gosht or gosht presece in the area where it is seen or appearred in a photography.
A gathering of enrgy, usually associated with the supernatural. Some say they are souls, trapped in this world who can't move on.
An orb is a light.
| |
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | Thank you for the definition, Francheskie. I do know what an orb is as I've seen them before, but this one, as most are, is different. They can be more colours than just white or blue... they can be multiple colours, yellow, or I've even seen dark ones. Yes, they are normally in the form of a circle, but some are slightly distorted from the circular shape, and they can just float around, or move very, very quickly.
Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings.

| | 16. hairypits (212) | 6 months ago | Oh that is defnitely an orb.
I love stuff like this - you should see the orbs in my house. My little boy freaks me out as when he was very young he'd sit talking to himself and I'd take a pic then look back at it and there was a massive orb next to him. Very weird. On that note I'm going to upload some orbs onto my profile...have a look!!

|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | I can quite believe that! Kids often have imaginary friends, which I believe are orbs, manifesting as spirits. We can't see them always but kids have an uncanny ability to "see". I'm very interested in the paranormal as well, and I have seen orbs before, but this took me quite by surprise. I had seen or "felt" nothing at the castle, and even when I uploaded the pics to my documents, I didn't see anything, but on posting them to my website album last night, I caught site of that, and a couple of others... all in the same area.
I shall take a look at your profile a bit later, to see what you've uploaded, my friend. Thank you and Brightest Blessings.

| | | | 17. teapotmommommerced (5724) | 6 months ago | the only thing I know about orbs is that they are thought to be entities of some kind. Was there a lot of bad stuff that happened at the castle? I know there can be residual spirits with unfinished business if there was some torture. I would love to see the other photos.
| |
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | No, as far as I know, there was no "bad stuff" at the castle. It didn't even come under siege, but it was close to a river which gave access to the English Channel, and untaxed wool used to be exported to Europe from the castle, via the River Rother. Also, there were servants and knights there, and in this particular tower, there were living quarters... rather like a bedsit, I believe on each of the floors, as you can tell by the fireplaces and "en-suite" loos. What there was, in the same area as the turret in which the orbs were caught, was a gate out to a footbridge, with a portcullis and such. The footbridge is no longer there, but just inside the gate, in case an unwelcome visitor got in, there were holes in the ceiling through which they would pour boiling oil, and the enemy would meet an untimely death once trapped between the portcullis and a big, oak door into the courtyard. That just could be a thought to be conjured with!
The knight who built the castle, fought a lot in France, and he built the castle to defend them against any French invasion, but according to history, the castle was never besieged. That doesn't mean though, that an odd few "unwelcome" visitors got through.
I'll post the photos here for you. Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings.

| madeline841 (22) | 6 months ago | I'm very interested in the paranormal and I watch every show I can related to this domain on documentary-specialized TV channels. In the last two pictures you've posted, there are clear signs that your camera didn't cause that orb in the first picture from your original post. It couldn't have been anything on the lens or a light particle reflected, because the orb looked placed quite at the back of the room.. In the second to last picture.. well.. I have no idea where that glimmer came from. It's not reflected in anything, it seems kinda perpendicular to where you're standing, but right above you, so the camera couldn't catch it. At first, I thought it was a light coming from there.. or the sunlight came in through the side, but there is no space through which the light could protrude. And it doesn't come directly from the covered wall/window, as it's a bit lower and coming from the corner. Do let us know more on what you've discovered regarding to the history of the place or any other sightings in that specific area! Madeline.
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | Madeline... I agree with almost all you've said in your response, except for in the initial photo, the orb isn't at the back of the room. I stood at the bottom of a tall turret, some one hundred feet tall, and pointed the camera upwards, in order to capture all the floors. The orb is in fact, right up on the left-hand side of the turret's top ceiling, rather than the back of the room. Plus, when you look at one of the other pictures, it's not there, and I took all pictures from a similar position, turning slightly, zooming sometimes, but basically all the same position. So where did that go in a few seconds? Can you see what I'm getting at?
I've had a response in here from an experienced ghost hunter who says that it definitely appears to be an orb of the spirit kind, and that it's not necessarily a spirit from past life in the castle. This person said that it could be an spirit orb which travels around with me, like a spirit guide. Intriguing!!! I know I have spirit presence in my home and garden, and several places I've visited, they've materialised as birds, butterflies or dragonflies. Don't ask! lol. I've also had some odd encounters with spirits, especially in the past thirteen years. They're signs, I know, and sometimes I understand what the sign is, but not always.
As for Bodiam's hauntings, I found an excerpt from a book called Haunted Castles of Britain and Ireland, by Richard Jones. He states in the book that passers by in the dead of night have reported hearing "the distinctive sound of spectral revels emanating from the hollow shell." Some have heard "strange oaths" and "foreign-sounding songs" coming from the interior, and there's a shadow of a ghostly lady in red, seen looking out from one of the towers at times, with her eyes seemingly fixed on a distant object, which nobody else can see. Then, there was a little boy's spirit, dressed in Dickensian style clothing seen running across the footbridge. Halfway across, he vanished, triggering tales that he may have fallen into the moat and drowned.
The castle was also used for several different film scenes, like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Robin Hood and Herne the Hunter, Dr. Who, and a Lancelot film. The band, Saxon, also recorded one of their musical videos there, so it's a very popular place. I haven't covered all the films and TV series, but there are quite a few!
If you wish to look it up, I found it in Wikipedia, under Bodiam Castle Hauntings. Now I'm more than convinced they're orbs! He he he.
Brightest Blessings, my friend. I'm thinking about starting or reviving some other stories about spirit presence, especially one about a little bridesmaid at my godson's wedding. The photos are amazing, and what happened that day was quite an eye opener. There are some pics of her in the cemetery, which might well show somebody something that I can't see, but she was definitely in the presence of spirits, and she intrigued me, along with an elderly woman in the church. Watch out for that one, as I think you might take an interest in it!:) Thank you for your contribution.

| | | | 18. chi2nasrin (434) | 6 months ago | I think it was really an orb. I once took a picture of an orb also, while taking pictures on the beach. There's seem like a face inside the round thing. That was my first spooky picture and nobody believe me. They said that it was just sand particle because it was taken on the beach.
I believe in these paranormal things and think that your picture is real, i mean the orb. You must have been really shocked!
| |
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | It could well have been a particle of sand in your picture, but it could also have been a spirit orb. I think the latter, but having not seen the picture, it's difficult to tell. Do you still have it? I would love to see it. There are non-believers in the world, my friend, who have to find logical reason for everything, and orbs and ghosts are two of those things that are so frequently passed off as something more logical than spirit. Their minds just can't perceive spirit because you can't touch it. Therefore, a lot of things pass unreported, or unnoticed.
Thank you for your comments on my picture. No, I wasn't shocked because I've captured them before, and encountered spirits. Luckily, they've all been good-humoured ones so far, so they don't worry me in the slightest. A friend showed a photo of an orb over her baby's bed on a paranormal site once, and I commented that I could see a little blonde girl's face in it. She had longish, blonde, curly hair and she was smiling. The friend came back on my comment and told me how her neighbour had once asked her who the little blonde haired girl was, who she had seen looking out of an upstairs window. So, there you go! We can't both be wrong. I knew nothing of this person before I joined the site and she requested friendship, but after that, we shared quite a lot of pics and experiences.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution.

if you can zoom it. you can see there's a guy's face in the orb. some say he's wearing a captain hat, and had a mustache.
the history of the place, it was once ruled by the British (forgot when) and had been a hiding place for pirates. please tell me if you can see it too.

Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | Unfortunately, I don't think you have enough points as yet, to upload a picture to your discussions. I believe you gain the facility when you reach 200 points, but I saved your avatar to my pictures and viewed it through my picture/fax viewer. It was tiny to start with but I did zoom in and saw a face of a guy with longish blonde or white hair, and a matching moustache. Around his neck was a knotted, short neckerchief, or tie of some description. That's amazing, my friend. Thank you for sharing.
| |
|
|
chi2nasrin (434) | 6 months ago | Thank you very much for your effort, finally more people agree with me that there's actually an image in that circle. Thumbs up for you, you really take this seriously.
I think I will blow up this picture and frame it and put it on my wall, but how scary is that.:-p
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 5 months ago | You're welcome my friend and yes, I do take the paranormal quite seriously as I've had a few personal experiences with the phenomena. Some have been manifested ghostly figures, some shadows, and some orbs. I even believe my grandson's spirited visited me every Christmas for ten years after his passing, as a butterfly. Before that, I didn't have any reason to believe that butterflies survived the winter months here, especially red admirals. I could tell you a few stories. Perhaps I ought to write a book about my paranormal experiences.
I think the blown-up photo would be great on your wall, and can't think that it would be spooky at all. As for my orb, I've been told by an actual ghost hunter on here, that sometimes, spirit guides or spirits who attach themselves to you, follow you around. So, perhaps this is it. Thereby lies another tale! lol.
| |
|
| | | | |
Darkwing (7519) | 6 months ago | It's funny you should say about them following you, because another person who responded to this, and who is an experienced ghost hunter, told me that not all orbs are from past life in the old buildings. There are orbs that travel around with you, like a spirit guide or something. So, that's probably why the two of us capture so many of them.
With regards to your camera going dead at President Kennedy's graveside, a similar thing happened to me when I was visiting an old priory. Strangely, even though the batteries had been fully charged, I had anticipated a problem... just a feeling... and taken two spare batteries with me. There must be something in that, I think!
I hope you don't mind, but I saved your photo and put it on zoom. I had no bad intentions, but figured I might be able to see something within the orb. The "orb" is either on top of your son's head, or just behind the back of it. When I zoomed to about 200%, I saw what appeared to be a letter W inside the orb. But then again, it looked a little like two crescent moons, overlapping each other in the middle to form the letter. I zoomed in further, in order to see it better, and on the next, and ensuing zooms, it turned into a white, ghost-like face, with perfect shading for two eyes, a nose, and the mouth might have been your son's hair. It's difficult to tell at that magnitude. Try it, and tell me what you see? I just put it in my fax/picture viewer and zoomed in. Forgive me for "borrowing" the photo without asking but I was itching to see what could be found. I tried to put a comment on your photo too, but apparently you're not on my friends list, so it wouldn't allow. Sorry about that.
Brightest Blessings and thank you so much for your contribution. I think your son has a spirit guide, guardian angel or even an "invisible friend" there.

Come to think of it, I may have seen that particular photo in FB in the first place. Whilst I have a few moments of from the trials and traumas of my busy life, I shall pop in and take a look. xx
