i have made a discussion intend for Filipino members asking what province in the Philippines they came from and i am happy with the responses i got and i really enjoy reading their posts...its as if i am already been in their place the way they describe it...
now, i am just curious since i know mylot is available internationally, if on what country my fellow mylotters came from and what can they say about their country...
about tourism, the foods, the people, the language...anything! just anything about your country...are you happy there? if given a chance will still choose your country to be your country?
me, well as i've said earlier, I am a Filipino from the Philippines, i was born here and never been out of the country...our country is rich in natural resources and we have lots of beautiful beaches, tourist spots, delicious foods, rich culture, nice people...there's so many provinces here and also many different languages but Filipino is our national language...
i am proud to be a Filipino and always be proud to be...no matter what...
how about you? what country you came from and what can you say about your place?
thanks for sharing and have a good day!

I'm from asia and my country is just 3-4 hrs away from philippines.. hehe ^_^ MY country is quite small and i guess it should equal to the combination of cebu and manila.. lol =D
Well, we are famous for being a clean and green country, as well as 'fines' for almost practically everything.. haha =D Besides, we are the only country to have banned chewing gums and it's considered illegal to owe any of it.. lol =D
Other than that, we do have lots of food available, international foods, ranging from asian crusines to european foods.. hehe ^_^ As for tourist spot, it's not that much actually, but universal studios is coming up very soon in 2010, together with our Integrated Resort.. hehe ^_^

Yeah, chewing gum is banned in my country since the early 90s.. lol =D Mostly because of those inconsiderate ple whom does not know how to dispose them in the right way, by sticking them everywhere, from under the seat to lift doors and buttons.. lol =D As a result, our government decided to ban chewing gum for good..
If we happened to be caught, we will be fined.. As for how much, i'm not too sure about it.. hehe ^_^
Definitely, every country in the world is affected by recession.. Just that ours is not as serious compared to USA ^_^
Well, lafayette, u are right, i'm from singapore.. haha =D

ye i know that casper here came from Singapore!
well that's really a nice info i get from you and i wish this will also be ban in my country...coz it really annoys me, when i accidentally step on a chewing gum being thrown in some streets...coz it sticks to my slippers and i stick with the road! hahaha
i hope that people who chew chewing gum be more responsible and if they can't dispose it properly, better yet they should just swallow it! hahaha
and nice to hear that your place is not as affected as other countries in terms of economic recession...do you think your leader is good and doing his job well?

lol =D NOt as many country are as daring like singapore to do this kind of things.. hehe ^_^ Maybe singapore is just being too strict in order for its citizens to learn?? lol =D
Luckily i dun have such an experience with chewing gum, because i remembered myself swallowing a chewing gum once.. lol =D BEcause that's my first time eating it, and i dunno that i'm supposed to spit it out at the end of it.. lol =D
Well, our leader may be good, but it's only just him.. If he happens to pass away in the future, alot of things might just change, i guess..

I'm from India. I love and hate this country because of the same reasons. The country has great moral values and cultures. People are just good and they like to follow their beliefs and values. We have so many people from so many religions and our secular country gives the best ground for making friends from people of all sections of the society.
But the bad is also because of the same cultures and values. They take it to such a level that they forget that it's not their own country. They force their beliefs on others. Force other to accept their religion and cultures and such that they tend to forget the basic fundamental right, the right to freedom. The govt also is religion based even though people fail to see it. There are so many political parties and some of them are biased towards one religion which is not at all required for a secular state like ours.

i see and understand you for that, like here in our country, we also have lots of cultures and traditions but its good that all those things did not affect the freedom of each person living here, although we have different beliefs here, different religions, different cultures, different traditions...and some are also pushing their beliefs to others...but what's good in here is that respect is always there, we did not force anyone to believe what we believe...we have our freedom(that sometimes i think some people overuse this freedom...)
our country is open for changes, adapt in the changes of the world but still capable of preserving those cultures and traditions...
like a good friend there says, here in our country, everybody is welcome and treated nice...and yes there's a lot of people from India here doing business and some marries a Filipino...
what we see in our respective countries, are the same things happening to most other countries...politics i think is really a problem in almost all countries...but we should still love our country...no matter what...i think!

"About 1.49/1,000 population, is the net migration rate (foreigners) as per 2005 survey"
"Estimated to total population Filipinos + migrants = 87.9 million as per 2005 census"
If you stay here you'll stay connected in any corner of the world in any modern way - technology here is keep on updated.
From cell phones and all latest communication gadgets, "here about 3.5 million internet users as per survey on 2002"
In fact we are here now in mylot! In Philippines you're in!

I am also from the Philippines. I grew up here in Manila but I have travelled to other countries for vacation and work. I am proud of to be a Filipino and my skin color though I am ashamed of such connotations to some Filipinas like me even if I am not one of those. If there is a chance to live in another country, I think I want to live in Singapore or anywhere in Europe. I like the culture there and the policy of the government. Sorry to say this but I am not really happy with the high taxes that I am paying to our very corrupt government and I don't get any benefits for paying taxes so its just a waste of money. Though I love the places around our country and the Filipino food.

hi sophie...good that you still are proud to be a Filipino despite of all those dissatisfaction that you feel about the government...i can't really blame you for this, for i myself also see the dirt in our politics...but i think to most country corruption is present, just not as popular like here...
i think, we can still benefit from the taxes we pay coz the roads we're walking, the expressways...are from our taxes, government hospitals i think also benefits from our taxes which benefit in return the poor ones...we are benefited with our taxes by one way or another, its just that we can't feel it sometimes...
by the way, i think everybody loves our very nice place, i mean the natural resources and yes the foods!
thanks sophie! have anice day!

I'm from the United States, specifically Michigan (the one that looks like a mitten with a peninsula). The U.S. is a mesh of everything you can think of. Michigan itself is pretty neat, at least when the weather is nice. We get some tourists in the summer. Food, it really depends on where you go. We have all your average fast food chains - Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, etc. - but many local eateries are unique. The people, well, it varies from person-to-person. English is the major language here, but we have people who speak pretty much every language you can think of. Spanish is pretty widely spoken here in Michigan. I myself have taken languages in school including French, Spanish, German, Chinese, and Japanese. I don't think I really dislike living here, though the economy is terrible, we are in a war overseas, and there is still a lot of prejudice. However, there are positive aspects. I like Michigan during the summertime. There isn't a ton of severe weather. We get tornadoes on occasion, but we're usually pretty fortunate. It's the winters that are brutal. We have a ton of lakes (Michigan is known as the "Great Lakes State") and fun places to go. When you get away from the doom-and-gloom grey of the city, the landscape can be extremely beautiful. The Upper Peninsula is gorgeous, though not as highly populated as the Lower Peninsula. It's great for summer getaways though.

hello baldypriest1
thanks for sharing these things about your country...
i think, when people heard US...wow! almost everybody wanted to go and live there with a thought of there's a greener pasture there! hehehe...and lots of opportunities are there...
i think, economic problems are not only in your place...its all over the world! since your economy is the basis of most economies in the world...what is is in the US that makes it powerful and have great influence to other nations?mmmmm
its nice that some people can really speak other country's language! i thibk there's also lots of Filipinos living there in your place...maybe you can also learn our language, as an addition to those languages that you have been studied! hehehhe :-)
so you mean your place also have nice natural spots? like those lakes that you are talking about? is it what makes Michigan unique from other states in US?
thanks again and have a good day! :-)

I am a Filipino and is of course proud to be one. Our country is really rich in natural resources as well as different tourist spots. I have been to other countries but there is really something here that makes me stay. The only thing that I am not proud of our country is the politics. There is to much and obviously there are a lot of corruption going on. I do hope that this will change and our politicians will work more for the benefit of the people rather than for themselves.

oh well, i think not only our country have an issue and problems in politics...i think its a problem of almost all country! corruption is very popular not only here but to other place/country as well...and i think on that part...its something that is difficult to change...
but still Philippines is really a nice place to be with!coz even if some politicians are like that, it can't still deny the fact that our country got a friendly, hospitable people!
there's something that makes you want to stay here...coz your heart is here and really, no place like home...and this is our home!

I am from England but so many things changed there with higher crime, dumbing down of education, the nanny state dictating our every move, and of course the famous weather which didn't really change, that I emigrated. I now live in Greece which is much more laid back, the people are friendly and welcoming, the scenery is spectacualar, and it is a safe environment to raise a chld. It is a country probably 20 years behind in time to England, we still have personal service at the bank rather than endless call centres, the people have a sense of pride, the beaches are everywhere and learning the language is a constant challenge. It is a much more relaxed country to live in, the pace of life is much slower, I prefer my new country to my old one and never intend to go back even though so many people see living in England as their dream.

oh i see...and i am happy that you find peace and comfort in your adoptive country Greece! i think Greece is really a nice place...lots of historical places i think and very nice architectural structures...i hope i am not wrong with this...
i think there's so many things comes along with progress...like what you said in England, the country i think is really progressive that's why there's so many people going there thinking that they can fulfill their dreams there but together with this progress is the changes...like higher crimes, more traffics maybe and the likes...and some people can't stand it and look for a better place...
its good to hear that in Greece you still have more personal service at the bank, just like here in my place, even if call centers are available, personal services are still widely available and used...
the way you say it, i imagine that Greece is indeed a great place to be...but how hard it is to learn their language?
thanks for sharing thea...

I am from Manila, Philippines and my dad is a pure PampangueƱo and my mom is from Batangas/Visayas. i am proud to be a Filipino and I have never dreamed of leaving the Philippines and live in another country. For me, it is better to have some bad times here in our native land than in another foreign country where you are away from your relatives and friends. I might go abroad to work and save for investments and go back here and have a business on my own to help our country's economy.
