Politics as usual: Palin asked to take one for the team?

She is a grandma now and is still facing attacks by the MSM on a regular basis. If I was her I probably would do the same thing. I'd be tired of all the negative attention and realize the job is causing me to miss out on a lot of good family time. Babies grow up too fast and leave home. Perhaps some political good will come of this in helping her lieutenant governor get a leg up in the next election if he runs.

I would think she does want to spend time with her family and she does have a grandson now. That makes a difference and she may decide to run in future. I also think that the negative press by the Obamamites hero worshipers had something to do with it. Maybe those who supported Obama have to experience how life would be really like under him and suffer the high taxes, long lineups at the pump, not being able to afford cheat alternative energy, not being able to keep the computer on as long for mylotting, bumping into things in the dark because they cannot afford to keep on the lights, freezing in winter, sweltering in summer.
But I do think the Republicans need a true strong candidate who can stand against Obama and with Sarah gone, it is a loss.

It's only a "positive" story if one believes Palin's motives are truehearted.

Most who've slandered, ridiculed and unjustly attacked Palin (which is most of America's major networks and newspapers) won't spin it positive -- so it won't be positive.

Those that support Palin, well, they don't need "positive" headlines. It's preaching to the choir, no matter how the rest of the party looks. Sanford reflecting poorly on the GOP is somewhat of a conspiracy theory by itself. The far-left loves to say that one politician's actions mean the death of the party. But it never holds true.

Republicans have been losing ground for a while, and ironically, it's not politicians like Sanford who cause it. It's politicians like Spector (there are enough of them -- not all shameless enough to change coats) playing both sides and trying to appease the headwind mass instead of their base that cause people to turn their backs.

(Although there are still plenty of them on the right, the left seems to have more fringe members willing to stand in their colored square no matter what their party is doing.)

It's hard to tell why Palin did what she did. After all, it's not like very many are going to believe HER reasons.

Most, especially disapproving of Palin to begin with, are going to create tales, fantastic or otherwise, about why she did what she did. The key word in that sentence being "she."

At the end of the day, Palin was in a lose-lose (major loss and utter catastrophe) situation. She was made the right's evil Joker to the left's heroic Batman. And there's no coming back from that. Even if you win you still lose.

Palin's treatment was as dirty as I've ever seen politics get. Then again, I am only in my 20s. But even still, it's definitely not something I'd put my family through. I personally believe she's trying to flee from it all, and there's not a bit of shame in it.

It's hard to tell how I'd act if someone filed a lawsuit against me for holding a fish. I don't even think the rest of the lawsuits were for actions quite that egregious.

I was relived to see Gov Palin knocked needle freak drug addict Michale Jackson off first page news MSNBC,CNN covered M.J. 24-7 for a week and have not let up.
Liberal left wing media doing what they do best not reporting the real news only what fits their agenda and to smear people they don't support.
By the way Fox new reports on Mark Standford every day as well as on all the head line news of the day that is why the left media and their supporters hates Fox New and I understand it is hard to compete with the best and most powerful cable media news Foxs News that's why MSNBC,CNN,ABC rating are in the tank.

I was listening the Charles Krauthammer on Fox News, and he thinks, short term, it was a mistake. He thinks 2012 is too soon for Palin to try for the Presidency. A few years down the road would be better because she'll have more time to learn, this issue won't be so big an issue, and she'll still be young enough.

I would like to think the reason she is quitting as Governor is the reason she gave, but if she continues to go around the country making speeches, she's going to continue to have the naysayers on her back. To them, she is a threat.

I love the fact that the elites are afraid of her, thats why she's my choice for prez some day, anyway I think she's gonna eventually ditch the republicans since they're nothing more then moderate puppets for Pelosi and make a future run as an independent, I'm thinking this country is getting real close to saying the hell with the 2 parties and she knows that especially since her own pelosi republicans hate her anyway.

Hmmm...now THAT'S interesting! I'm usually not much of a conspiracy theorist but this sudden announcement was just so unexpected and strange I can't help but think there's something more than what meets the eye! Some people are claiming it's so "smart" of Sarah, which I find rather amusing and some seem to really think she's done with politics for good, which I find almost impossible to believe. She may be done as far as winning anything but I don't think it will be by her choice. I'm really looking forward to all the political shows tomorrow and hope all the regular hosts and panelists will be back from their holiday celebrations.
