Does anyone know the best way to keep mushrooms fresh?

I do remember reading somewhere that you can freeze mushrooms by placing them individualy on trays in the freezer so that they do not touch and once frozen bag them up together. Doing this the mushrooms should last for around a month. But I have never tried this so do not know how successful doing this would be or what they would be like once defrosted. The way I tend to keep mushrooms is in a brown paper bag in one of the draws at the base of the fridge. Doing this they tend to last about 3 days before they start to turn. I usually find that when they are kept in a plastic tray like you get in a supermarket they start to turn a lot quicker. A mushroom walks into a bar, sits down and orders a drink. The bartender says "we don't serve mushrooms here." The mushroom says "Why? I'm a fun guy."
