Vista Memory Usage

For some reason, it seems that the memory used by processes has recently vastly increased, to 45-50%+ of system memory (3GB). Biggest memory users are Firefox (148MB), DWM (110MB) and svchost (74MB). I'm sure they were never this high before, and I know system memory used used to be a lot less. Also, every time I turn the computer on, on the shut down computer I get the Install Updates shield, even though no updates are installed on shut down. Any ideas what could be causing this?

install the windows xp professional with service pack 3, you can do everything, and your computer is faster than vista about 20-30%, so its big difference

Until recently, I haven't had any problems at all with Vista, even though I've been using it for over a year now. This isn't actually slowing anything down, I just can't see why the memory usage seems to have suddenly increased.
