I love green so much that the only flowers growing in my garden are the large daffodils that line the front of my apartment they themselves planted, my own Dianthesis flower pot on the step, the beautiful bright magenta flower that blooms out of my cactus plant, the red berries that grow from my St. John Wort plant that I think look so elegant and my rectangular window box of orange/red marigolds which sits in front of the railing on my step (in front of the door) but man do they make a statement among all that green, I love it!!
The easiest and most hardiest among them, MARIGOLDS--their just tooo easy, their like 'give me water, a little love and let me do my thing I do best'--I don't ask anything else of them either,
I have tomato plants, a bell pepper plant, collard greens, my Bonsai maples, basil, strawberries, my rare auction plant with purple leaves and other succulents. If it was up to me I'd have a HUGE agave plant in front of my apartment but I would be crushed to see it die given that I live in a temperate climate and doubt I could bring it inside my apartment the end of summer without my two girls hurting themselves from its spines (where WOULD I put it??).

Hi Karen!
Here in our city, weather remain hot and humid for 8 months of the year, therefore, some of the delicate plants cannot be grown and even if they are grown, they do not survice in extreme heat. I think nothing beat the white or the red rose bush. I have many rose plants in my terrace garden and they keep blooming thourough out the year, winter is the best season for them to grow. They come out in their fullest size duing cold weather. In summers they keep blooming, however, they do not survice for many days.

Hi D. Where I live, we have the cold and snow during the winters, and frosts in the spring and fall, so the roses do bloom all summer. So delicate and beautiful! I love all the colors they come in. Since it is only hot and humid sometimes in the summer, they do well even then. For winter, we have to trim them back and cover them with a pile of leaves or some soil so that they do not winter-kill.

Marigolds are mega easy to grow and have the benefit of being good for the soil, too.
Um, I generally have alot of luck with roses, too...at least as long as we have plenty of ladybugs to eat the pests that love roses, and frequent rains, when they bloom.
Morning glories, which I love but most people consider to be weeds, are easy to grow. Along with their cousins, moonflowers. (I have a soft spot for sensitive plants, xD). Most flowers that're considered to be weeds are easy to grow.

Oh really, thats good to know! We have this one small house in our neighborhood that has this beautiful English looking garden with two rows of just rose bushes and I just admire it soo much but I just made the assumption that something so beautiful would be hard to maintain, any particular roses you could suggest for containers?--I live at an apartment

Hi Revella. American Beauties and Tea Roses are easy to grow, and if you have a very large pot, they will do well. Or you can also try some of the newer miniature roses. I have had good luck with those. I don't have lady-bugs enough in the area, so have to use a mild well-diluted soap and water solution or special made pest spray for roses to keep the aphids away.
