Most people have teeth that are naturally darker than "pure" white. Some people respond well to the use of whitening toothpastes while some do not. Are there any other ways to whiten your teeth, I wonder? How do you maintain healthy white teeth?

I have tried to use whitening toothpaste for a long time, because my teeth looks not so pure white, it is a little yellow in fact, I am really headache about this. But I think it is useless for me to use whitening toothpaste, it dose not work well. Maybe my teeth looks yellow just because the water here have some kind of element.

Yes I agree that sometimes whitening toothpastes do not have the required action because of the water that may may have an excess of iron, chlorine or other elements that cause the yellowish tinge to the teeth.I am now using a whitening toothpaste by Oriflame and it is really a great product.Although my teeth are white,I still want to maintain it that is why I opted for this toothpaste. It also has multiple actions that have helped me get rid of my tooth problems.

Well, Oindy, you're in India, but I have a few sites that offer whitening solutions on a free trial basis, like what dentists use. The only problem is, you're in India and it's here in the US, if I can come across some international stuff, I'll letcha know!!

Thanks for your response.I posted the topic to get information to help out one of my friends whose teeth are acquiring a yellowish tinge.Thankfully I have white teeth till now(touch wood).Hehe.. But I agree with you, everyday I see so many free trial programs on the net,not just teeth solutions but so many others but they are all for U.S. citizens, none for us Indians :( You guys are really privileged,we get no trial offers here, absolutely nothing for free. Not even the survey sites in India offer any products for trial.

I personally like to just bite the bullet and pay the $40 for Crest Premium White Strips a couple of times a year - they're the only ones that have worked for me. Otherwise, using whitening toothpaste two times a day (or however many times per day you brush your teeth) definitely can't hurt. I've also heard that chewing certain types of gums, using certain mouthwashes (and even rinsing with hydrogen peroxide), and brushing your teeth with baking soda all can help, too.
