If you eat with family, out, you will read the bill, or just pay?  

i usualy check the bills because lots of waiters are so incompetent that doesnt know how to tipe well on a keyboard and more than one time if the bill was for example 50€ they typed 500, and never leave a tip because the attention here on spain leaves a lot to desire

Who says it is impolite to check the bills?We have to check out the bills before paying.As you have said,sometimes they charge for foods we hadn't taken at all.And there would be double entries too.After all we pay with our hard earned money and I don't find anything wrong to check it.And about the tips,I give out 5% of the bill and in some cases 10% but not more than that.Cheers!

well i don't think it as impolite...i think its just right to check the bills and make sure that we are paying the real thing...nowadays, every cents are important and so we must spend our money wisely! and i think our family whose with us will understand that...
as to giving of tips, well i don't usually give but when i get really satisfied and happy with the service they provide...i can give some...

I do read the bill before I pay. I have had errors on the bill or been over charged for something before.

Depending on how I am served depends on the percentage of tip.

I think it's not rude if you're going to check the bill. I mean you're just making sure that you are only paying for what you ate right?.. I usually check the bill first, just to make sure, and then I check if the place charges for service charge. If they do, sometimes I don't give tips anymore, but if the service and the food was great, even if they have already charged me for service, i would still leave a tip. Just to show that I really enjoyed my meal. =)

I always read the bill before I pay.I have heard that sometimes they make mistake when write the item or the price.It was happen to me.I think,We have to read first.But now,I think,the writer always read to us about our order and the price when they give the bill.

I mostly look at the price, if I feel it is beyond what I ecpected, I will brief look at the price and sum up quick, I don't think it is impolite to do so, it is something that I need to take out from my wallet and pay, so I will be careful about it and not trust 1oo % either.

i always check the bill because i have found mistakes on it before and not in my favor. i have also gotten someone elses bill too so i make it a point to read over it before i pay it. people make mistakes so i just make sure it is correct.

my hubby always checks the bill to make sure we are not being overcharged. this way it is better because you see where you money went and how much each item was. i also do this to see how much i should be paying the waitress for a tip.

I will read everything before I pay... Of course I have to read the bill because they will keep charging you if you dont pay attention. Last time, this restaurant charged me extra shrimp and it costs like over $15. I asked what is that? and the waiter said I ordered it. I said, alright which plate is the shrimp one? he started to hummmm.... hummmmm.... and then the bill changed. Another thing when I go to fast food restaurant and it is really busy then I will pay separately on food and drink, otherwise they will keep charging u without knowing which is which. of course the manager always teach them how to charge extra whenever you buy a lot... YES, it is true and especially at chinese place because my friends told me about it.
