Does comedy play a big role in your life? |
| |
| In the last couple of days I have had the occasion to seek out something that would lift my spirits in a major way, so I turned to a tried-and-true form of entertainment that always manages to bring out the laughter in me. That would be comedy. I love comedy and comedians. Thinking back over the years I believe my very first favorite comic was Red Skelton. I remember as a child that I was always glued to the TV set when his weekly show was on. He made me laugh even when I didn't feel like laughing. I later fell in love with the likes of Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and George Burns humor. Comedians are very special people to me, and I think they deserve much more attention than they usually receive. I don't like all comedy, since I find some of it to be tasteless and inappropriate, but I have had the pleasure of watching some of the best in the business over the past five decades. Does really great comedy matter to you? | | | | | |

| | Comedy also played a big role in my life. It most definitely was important when I was at my lowest of lows. It also helps me cope with stress and the pressures of everyday life. No doubt comedy played a part on each and everybody's lives. | | | | | | |

| | Comedy don't really play a big role in my life but we definitely need them. Without them there won't be entertainment, there won't be laughter. The world will have no joy, everyone will became 'dull' and no-life..hmm, maybe i might sound like i am exaggerating..but that's what comedy means to me. Tey bring me entertainment and joy. | | I wouldn't say it plays a big role in my life, but now and then I am in the room to listen to some comedy, I am more a drama person, I love real life stories and unfortunately most of them have tragedy to them. | | | | | | |

| | Not as much as it use to. Back in the 70's I saw a lot of cartoons and sit coms. But now I rarely watch comedies. I do have a good sense of humor and I am told I say a lot of funny things but I don't see that many comedies. When I want to feel better, I see a good action film or a suspense film. It is even hard for me to tell you what is my favorite funny film or comedian.I guess my taste has changed. | | | | | | |

| | I prefer the young Eddie Murphy. I liked his stand up in the 80's, Raw. The Eddie today is too " for the whole family " for me. I like Steve Martin too. Did you see L.A. Story? It is one of my favs. It is rare to find a romantic comedy I will like. | | | |

| | Yes, comedy in my life is very important. I love to laugh. Love to make others laugh. One thing that might bring up your spirits is to go to a nearby daycare and listen to the kids play and laugh. This is great! The old comedians are great. The old Steven Alen show and the Cavett Show were great. You can get [his first name is shortened name for Richard. Mylost won't let me put it on here] Cavett on DVD now. He has some great interviews and always has something humorous and positive to say. Great stuff! Hope it helps. | | | | | | |

| | You have named some of my favorites. Who did not like Red Skelton, he was such a gentle soul. I find most current comedy tasteless, though. I love to laugh. Someone on here asked about funny movies and that brought back great memories as well. We all need to laugh more. | | | | | | |

| | omedy and cartoons have played a huge role in my recovery from depression. I've found that if I limit my television choices to funny stuff I stay in a much better mood. It's kind of hard because my very favorite shows are crime dramas, but I have a daughter that watches cartoons constantly and I have to laugh at that. Also stand up comedy and Adult Swim crack me up. It seems like when I watch that kind of stuff on tv I just feel better. | | | | | | |
