Some of my friends, have the Chinese Mobiles, which have a lot of features, and one of them is the TV. But they are able to watch only Doordarshan on their mobile TVs, why is it that they are not able to watch some satellite TV stations like Sun, Raj etc which are free to air satellite TV's. Any ideas.

I do not like to use a mobile phone from China. because the phone is easily damaged. mobile television is not very useful. we are not satisfied to watch television on mobile phone screen.

Some of my friends also have these cellphones and I have watched the IPL using that cell phone when I was in Hostel. It does not have all the other channels because they are not free to air channels meaning they are not free. To watch them we need to pay money. Doordarshan is free channel so the cell phone can display it.

Thanks for the response biman. I would like to know how you were able to watch IPL, since setmax is also a paid channel. This is what I would like to know, how to watch such channels in the mobile Phone. What is mechanism behind this. Hope you would let me know about this.

i think you can have only a pay tv on your mobile phones and not the free channels one!!
So normally different kind of plan are sld to see a number of channels but you can't receive all channels as on your normal tv..in what way they can have codec for satellite signal?i think mobile phones are not equipped for that...surely you can see some broadcasted tv on digital band!!

Yes you are right about the information, but since these Chinese Mobiles were picking up the signals of Doordarshan (it is the Indian state broad caster), I thought that it may pick up the signals of some of our local satellite TV broadcasters, which are free to air channels. Thanks for the response.
