A local monument company created and crafted a monument to Michael Jackson to be sent to Gary, Indiana. The $28,000 monument has been shipped out, our newspaper said.
Now, I think it's very nice of them to do this for Gary, Indiana. And I don't begrudge Mr. Jackson a monument, he was an immense talent and a gifted performer. But food banks have empty shelves, children are going hungry as their parents struggle with joblessness, reduced work hours and homelessness. Can you imagine how many meals $28,000 would provide if the monument company donated that money in Mr. Jackson's name?
What has happened to our priorities?! When a dead person is more important than the health and well being of people living, especially in times like these, there is something seriously wrong. I think the world has gone insane. Michael Jackson was quite the philanthropist and I think a donation to a worthy cause would be a memorial he would appreciate much more than a monument.

Hi there,
I can well grab your concern but this is the same case every where. In one of the states in India the Chief Minister got her bigger than life size statue built and is now for public view at the vintage corner of the city. it cost around $20000. Just think about the poverty in her state let alone the country.
These are publicity mongers and would never get right.

A private company did this statue or someone might start a legal issue. Did your Chief get her statue paid for with public taxes?
It's time for people all over the world to stop putting up with a few hundred people pushing them around. The leaders are well outnumbered by the people--it's comparable to one person telling an entire city what to do. Ludicrous, isn't it? Why don't people stop putting up with the bull crap?! Time for us all to wake up. Trouble is, nobody listens.

This is the reality. And the money it is ours. Would she pay from her ancestral home? This is how the politics goes and we are just dumb waiter.

Unfortunately, sense isn't popular. Americans will never vote for someone who tells them the truth because they're addicted to feel-good bull crap. They know they're being lied to--if they don't, we're worse off than I imagined--but it's all about feeling good, not about running a country responsibily.

couldn't agree more, instead of paying 28k usd why didnt they just donate 28k usd to charity instead, it will do a lot more good than a monument
as at the end of the day michael jackson was only flesh and bone same as every other human being out there,
I think the world has gone mad especially in the economic times when some people are really struggling to make ends meat.

Some people say that we need things like this to boost our morale but I think a full belly and a roof over one's head is a helluva lot more inspiring than a monument!

well not everybody liked michael jackson, especially in his latter days.
And yeah whats a piece of metal or ornament as at the end of the day only a tiny percentage of people will ever actually get to see it,wonders how something you may never get to see can raise morale lol,
