If You Could Go on a One Day Vacation in California, Where Would You Go?

We're trying to come up with vacation possibilities and the catch is that it can only be a one day trip due to all of the pets. Beaches are fun, hiking trips are cool too, and even just visiting a center somewhere with some really cool stuff to look at would be fun. So where would you go? Have you gone there before? Why would you go there?

Well CA is a big state, you don't say where you are? I'd go to Tahoe, it's in the MTNS. a beautiful Drive, you have water, hiking, and great mountain air. I lived there for a few years, and there's lots to do! Gambling aside! tdemex

We are crazy enough to go anywhere in one day... just that some trips require considerably more driving and waking up very early. I'm in Southern CA. But we've done Tahoe before as a day trip and that's actually pretty fun. Except last time we weren't able to hike, so maybe we'll have to try it again this summer. Thanks for the suggestion! We could even do like an overnight trip too so that we get more time there.

All the places I know to see in California are in San Diego. I would either go to Balboa Park and see all the museums, or I would go to the San Diego Zoo, but that really requires more than one day.

I've never been to Balboa Park that I can remember, that might be interesting. I've been to the San Diego Zoo a long time ago and more recently, to the Wild Animal Park. I'm just worried it might be so hot that that wouldn't be as fun if the animals aren't out and about. But then again, I guess a lot of the animals would still be active in the heat. I think the zoo would be okay in one day? I know we probably wouldn't get to see everything, but if it was planned ahead everyone could see what they wanted to.

If you had the money you could ride the tram around. There are lots of museums around Balboa Park. We went to one that was free at the time, it was a car museum.

That sounds pretty cool. Today my family visited Lake Arrowhead, but they went without me because I am studying for the GRE test until the end of this week.

I would probably travel to San Diego. I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for many years, therefore, I would want to see another area of the state. My daughter went down to San Diego a few months ago and she simply fell in love with the city. She is seriously thinking about moving there. If it is going to be a one day trip, you really need to have your day mapped out. Even then you will probably miss some great attractions, such as the zoo with all the animals.

San Diego is cool. I have a few cousins who live there. We've seen the zoo, Sea World, and the Wild Animal Park before but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing those again. We'll probably go there once it cools down just a bit.
