Those people who spread virus are the called CRACKERS because they destroy the builder of good computer program. Their is really a false misconception about the term of of groups of people or person who create viruses, worms or trojan. Some called them HACKERS which are not the right term. The hackers are the good one they are the builders of the good program. And the bad ones who destroy what the hackers build are really the crackers who uses to stolen your personal identitification like your password, send viruses, worms, trojan and damage your computer. You will know the right term when you search google. When a files or program is destroy they blame it to the hackers but in fact they are infiltrate by the bad guys-the crackers.

A computer virus is simply a piece of programming code, a stand alone small piece of software. Most of the codes are innocent. It is how they are used that get them to be called viruses.

The early viruses were simple, self-containing set of codes, like the delete a file command. Antivirus programs can recognise unauthorised instructions, so programmers came up with a more sophisticated way. The cycle goes on.

In order to find weaknesses in theirs or other software programmers purposely create 'viruses'. Many viruses, trojans, and other malware remain in the labs.

There are people who release the codes that they created just for fun. Others are in retaliation to what they see as injustice being done on them. A few were accidentally released into the wild.

Nowadays it is not easy to catch people who purposely release viruses for personal satisfaction. In theory the route can be traced back. In reality they use various Internet techniques to avoid detection.

Are we being watched? Possibly. It was said that chances are even higher if you have an active webcam, either activated by you or triggered by another virus.

To minimise the risks get a good firewall and antivirus software. There are many free versions, each with own strengths and weaknesses. There may also be a need to have an Internet scanner which checks the security level of websites.

They're computer programmers. Viruses are just computer programs that are designed to do harmful things, or record information on your computer.

To be safe, make sure you're running an up to date antivirus application (like Norton or McAffee) often, and think about what sites you're entering your information in to.

Also, make sure you're only entering things like credit card information to secure sites (which will start with https:// in your browser, instead of ones that read http://).

If you own a website, and you're worried about someone hacking in and changing your site, or getting your info, make sure your forms are secure. So, anywhere on your site where someone can enter information, make sure you have coding set to disallow certain things, like (*&)%^|\/ type characters, and set maximum lengths, like a phone number field shouldn't allow someone typing a whole sentence.
