 I never grow tired of watching these precious movies starring that curly-topped moppet--and I also enjoy watching those movies that she made as a teenager.
Shirley Temple, in my book, is a very talented actress--and, not only that, but she also has been a great goodwill ambassador during her adult years.

I took a picture of my goddaughter when she was three months old sitting in the bathroom sink, which I'd turned into a miniature bathtub for her. She was so cute! She told me that, when she got to be in her early teens, she hated that picture.

It's been a little while since I watched this, but I seem to recall that the person who reported her as a school truant had a hidden agenda.
She had a crush on the lighthouse keeper and was hoping that he might want to marry her and make his home a two-parent home for Shirley--which would have been acceptable where, in the eyes of social services, the single man taking care of a little girl wasn't. | |
