Is Mary Jane anything like the original Patty Williams?

It has become clear that Mary Jane is really Patty Williams who has returned to Genoa City after undergoing plastic surgery. I think the writers have a lot of latitude when they reach back more than twenty years to revive a plot -- probably most people who were even watching the show back then don't vividly remember the original storyline! I'm wondering, though, if they're really staying true to the Patty character. I've only seen clips of her, but she seemed to me to have been a sweet and innocent girl who fell very hard in love with Jack and just couldn't handle that he wasn't faithful to her. So she lost it and ended up shooting Jack...basically a crime of passion. Jack didn't even press charges. Mary Jane, though, seems thoroughly mentally disturbed and essentially evil. She's a woman who killed her pet cat and a bird and put a young child in danger of losing her life. Was Patty ever this crazy? Can you imagine her hurting innocents like pets and children?

I think that they are trying to show that Patty over all these years never heald from the situation with Jack and the is how she could kill the bird the cat and harm little Summer. I think that they want to show how her issues with Jack never were handle mentally for her. so I think she could be that nutts.

Yeah, I think you're right. She clearly never got over Jack and has just gotten crazier over the years. She's been isolated from her family for a long time too, so perhaps all she's been doing is brooding over Jack for decades. I learned something recently that I hadn't heard before: evidently Patty miscarried Jack's baby at one point. So the scars really do run deep there. Still, Patty is more of a predator herself than a victim...she just doesn't care who she hurts.
