In our general perception, majority of blacks and Hispanics were discriminated by high - paid jobs, don't you feel the same? I am not saying that they aren't worth the pay, but most high - paid jobs and reputable jobs were held by Whites. I guess that mostly related to their family background, and the disciplinary behavior while they were in school. Academic achievements mostly decided what they going to be when they enter the working forces. Don't you agree?

This may have been true in the past but I don't believe it's true anymore. Over the years I've met many minority college students who worked two and three jobs in order to get an education because they had dreams and goals. Many of them came from low income families who hadn't had the opportunities they have today...or they chose not to reach for the stars...but that doesn't stop those who have the drive and the willpower to be successful.

I don't think this is the case these days. Look at the vast, large number of successfull minority business owners, corperate executives, political leaders (cripe our president for that matter), celebrities, journalists, etc. It more involves how much one applies themselves. I think it is a blatently dangerous myth to perpetuate in this modern day. There are still minority group leaders who continualy push the "main is keeping us down" ideals and I think it does far more damage than good. It continues racial divides and tensions. It teaches minorities that they cannot be successful with out special laws or considerations. The mentality does more to discriminate than discrimination itself.

I believe that was true in the past, but with so many discrimination laws I don't believe its as bad now. I think it just depends on were you live and the education that you have. I don't know about Hispanics but a lot of blacks attend college and then get just as good a paying job as anyone else.
