Yes, Thea, we'll count it - I mean, they're your neighbours, aren't they,so in the loosest sense of the word, something of yours appeared on TV. A few years ago, they filmed 'Songs of Praise' in Padstow, which is very near to us in Cornwall. My son worked in the local bakery, and they filmed in there, so we sat down to watch, hoping to see him. All we saw was his hand crimping a pasty, and then Aled Jones at the door of the bakery. As if that wasn't bad enough, none of the people I know - and I know nearly everyone, as it's a small village - recognised any of the 'locals' that were interviewed or in the congregation.

Well Sandra, importing locals is a good one, may I ask what was wrong with the real ones? Hope you didn't ring round and tell all your friends that your son was going to be on TV. I'm glad you accept the local fisherman as things of mine, they are certainly a permanent fixture in my life!

We all asked what was wrong with real locals at the time. Apparently, they preferred to include people with second homes in the area, some of them minor celebrities, who coincidentally (!!!) timed one of there 2 visits a year to fall during the filming. Luckily, I hadn't said anything about my son being on, but I did record the programme as proof, which was pretty useless, as the hand could have belonged to anyone!

Sandra, I wouldn't have recognised a minor celebrity if I fell over one, if you have some eccentric locals they would have been much more fun and brought a better story to your village if they'd been on TV. With so much reality TV they must try to avoid real TV unless it is manufactured.

Hello, and thanks for responding.I tried to put a picture up, but it wouldn't load. The mugs are pink, blue and green, (there were 2 of each in the set) with red roses on. Just ordinary mugs, but it was quite surreal seeing them on TV, while I was drinking out of the same ones!

I was even more surprised by the necklace this morning. Mind you, I expect she paid more for hers than I did for mine. They're only 1 euro each in the markets in Spain. Oh well, at least I can truthfully say I have an interest in two TV programmes!

I'll look out for the bag now, and the coat. One thing it proves to me is that at least the props and wardrobe departments are aiming for realism by using things we're all likely to use. I mean, it would be a bit much if Fiz headed for the factory carrying a designer bag, wouldn't it? Thanks for the response.

Yes, I agree. It really does add a realism to the shows, especially when the plots get a bit far fetched..lol:)

Talking of seeing people in the shops, I saw Peter Bowles (To the Manor Born, Only When I Laugh) coming out of Boots in Plymouth. He was appearing in 'Hedda Gabbler' at the Theatre Royal at the time. I saw him in the play and he was great, but I never realised how tall he was. And he's still dishy, even though he's getting on a bit now. Robert, you may have competition!

Pity the rag doll wasn't in a programme - you could have advertised in the break! That is so unusual, that 2 things you made rather than bought have been on TV. What are the chances of that?

lol well I do have a pair of those as well.. The glass ones with metal decorations on them and they are like 6-10 inch high...

When I started this, I didn't expect so many and aried replies. Fancy Maria shopping at Ethel Austin's! We don't have them in Cornwall, where we lived before we moved to Spain, but when we visit friends in the Midlands I always take a trip to Ethel Austin's. I hope the phone is all David has in common with your son!

i think it's the costume department that do the dressing of the actors, i remember seeing a backstage exclusive about corrie once and the costume people supply the clothes, but there it was, my cardy, i was like WHAT....jeez they could have put her in something a little more expensive, plus the cardy went out of shape after i washed it the first time...that's how cheap it was, i think the fone david had was the same as any normal lad would have, but i did hear tha they use dummy fones, so i might be wrong there but it did look similar.
