Liberty For Security

Normally the phrase trading liberty for security is in address to national security as to warrantless wiretaps as an example. Yet there are examples of an economic liberty trade for security. During the 30's Germany and Italian companies supported socialist governments to protect themselves from the communist. Today we live in an era that government is quick to take over, business quick to ask for money, and citizens asking for more control. Yet we must go back to the old adage, "Those that would trade a little liberty for a little security, will find that they have neither".

"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety" - Attributed to Benjamin Franklin.

Then there is the one that says "Any government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take it all away". As American's we deserve the kind of government that we allow.
