Have you ever gotten sympathy cards when a pet dies?  

my family received a book from the vet after our dog at the time got hit by a car. we had him put to sleep as our dog was paralyzed and could hardly move. it was a book
to read about where animals go after they pass away. the book was good especially for my young sister at the time who was very upset.

I have, only once because the vet that had put my last dog down had sent it to me, which was nice of them. I mean the vet we went to with our other dog before the last one had to be put down, didnt even sent us a sorry for your loss card. I'm sure if I was a dog putter downer i'd send cards to all the family's dogs I've had to put down.

I received a sympathy card from the vet when I had to put my cat down. Everyone else just gave me hugs. Which was much appretiated.

When my dog Petey passed away a couple years ago, my Niece and Nephew made me a sympathy card b/c they knew how upset I was. I still have it and it means a great deal to me.
