Reviving OLD discussions |
|
We know that reviving old discussions, our previous threads that were never noticed, never been responded well, is illegal and against the rule. That is if we are going to post it again as new discussion, same old context.
But I probably say that if it is the same old post, that can even be a year old now, can still be revived. As in it can be responded again by some other users will still get some more responses if will get noticed by other members. No re-posting of the said old discussion.
This is possible, if we comment to the discussions. It will come back to life. It will goes up again in the interest section. It will also display at our friends activity section that she/he commented or responded to that discussion. And if their friends came to notice her/his activity, they may come to check the said thread and may respond.
This actually happens to my old discussions today. I asked my new friends to come and browse my old discussions and see if they can say something about the topic. I didn't tell them to respond to all of them, I just told her that if she has something to say, if she can relate to the situation.
Thanks to my new friends, janebeth, xchyler and narvech87...
Do you think this is against the rules?

2. LetranKnight25 (4163) | 5 months ago | Reposting an old discussion is a NO NO and a violation, or posting a discussion then putting a link of the old discussion is a violation too. but i also did number 2 because it was one of my old and serious discussions. they did buy it and respond to my old discussion but was never deleted...but you shouldn't do it, because some might report you someday.

neildc (3487) | 5 months ago | of course, it's against the rules and mylot guidelines. what we are talking about the old discussions are those discussions that were originally posted long before. sometimes we call them archives, right. we can't repost them by starting a new discussion today and pasting or retyping the same content. Even a new topic started today and putting a link leading to that old discussion is a no no. i guess only if the situation calls for it. i also put links in some of my responses, only if the discussion is relative or OP has interest to it.

neildc (3487) | 5 months ago | hi mysdianait,
i already accepted your friend request madam and thank you for it. and that actually happened with my old post, i let one of my new friends, a new member, to start mylotting with my own posts, browse from there and see if she can relate to some of them. so she replied to some, and so some other members which her friends too, reponded also. that is reviving, not reposting, right?
i checked your profile page so i saw what you mean, about the links to your discussion, the EARN on myLot and ABC to myLot.
posting links to responses or comments, directing to our discussions whether old or new is fine, right? as long as it is related to the topic and as long as it is an affiliate link?

If you post links to other dicussions then you will most likely see those posts deleted as they could be considered as advertising or promoting them especially if it looks like you are seeking more responses on them.
It's best to just add a comment to a response then, if the tags are correct, they will appear in 'similar dicussions' ----->> when they have new activity. I have just 'bumped' one of mine about spammers as that seems to be the topic od the day (yet again sadly).

4. scarlet_woman (8769) | 5 months ago | i've never seen what the big deal is with reviving existing old threads. if they're still timely,i don't care if someone posts to my older ones. i know some people freak out about it,but i don't mind if people do respond. if mylot locked them after a certain period, that'd be different.

neildc (3487) | 5 months ago | Hi scarlet.
One reason I see for an old discussion to get revived is to let other members especially the new ones, know that this certain topic had been posted before, like if they are trying to start a new one related or similar to ours.
Another one is if you have some difficulties creating a new topic. Millions of discussions have already been posted and we cannot avoid posting similarities, most specially the newbies and some cheaters. Of course we should not forget that not everyone here speaks English very well.
And lastly, if you think the topic is timely, instead of starting a new similar discussion, we can just comment to some responses there and put it back and we can still earn from the past.
I just thought this might be a big deal for some and someone like me minds. Don't you think?

5. mentalward (4215) | 5 months ago | As long as you don't make a discussion asking people to look at your older discussions, it's not against the rules. You can ask anyone you like, as long as it's in a PM or email.
I've had some of my old discussions revived but I never said a word about them. As a matter of fact, I've forgotten most of my old discussions! LOL But, every now and then, someone responds to discussions I posted over a year ago. Maybe they do searches for certain topics and that's when our old ones pop up.
I actually did go back through yours to find the one about your son who was having such a horrible time when his teeth were coming in. If I weren't so tired all the time (with my heart problem), I'd be responding to some of your old discussions because I remembered one where you had lost your part-time job, or something like that, and I made a point to try and respond to all of your discussions from that point on, to help you make extra money.
Hopefully, when the doctors find out what's wrong with my heart and it can be fixed, I'll have more energy and will most definitely be going back to your old posts, and those of some other myLotters as well, and respond if I have something to add. Also, if I bump into someone who has been around here for awhile but I had never met before, I'll check out some of their older discussions, too.
I've noticed that, if one person adds a comment to an old discussion, usually I get a few more comments from other people as well because that discussion has been pulled out of the archives and is alive and well again.
That's actually one reason why I put off giving a best response for awhile. I've given out best responses before, only to have the REAL best response come in right afterward. I eventually get to all of them.
So, no, it's not against the rules, as long as you don't make a discussion asking people to go to your older discussions.

8. ashadeep_senapati (174) | 5 months ago | Writing the same discussion again with same wording is wrong and it is against the rule. But If you ant to revive a old discussion then you can do that by asking your friend to respond to that and it will become alive again. So to start the discussion again never go for writing that discussion again but have a response to that and you will get what you need.

10. salonga (4622) | 5 months ago | I think there is no violation of rules if you are not posting exactly the same topic but only sending PM to your friends so they could see and if they could contribute or find something worth sharing to your old posts then it is beneficial to you and to them as well. I think it is in fact a good idea to solicit responses to your close friends here through PM. And you can do the same thing to them to return the favorI find this idea not violating any rules here.

neildc (3487) | 5 months ago | hi salonga. exactly that is the point. we are not going to put a link but just to tell them through PM( private message). anyway, PMs has no rule about links so we can do whatever we want to say... neil
