English: Is it not important?

I suppose it all depends on whether you need to know the language. I live in England, so I think people who live in England should be able to speak good English otherwise they will encounter many problems.

English is widely known globally and considered as the universal language. Travel agents or anybody who is working in the travel or hospitality business should know how to converse well in English so that they can get more customers. I have been in Thailand with my bf two years ago, the hotel staffs can't speak or understand English. I asked for the manager since I know his name (from the confirmation email of the hotel) and good thing he is Filipino. My bf said that Filipinos are the only Asians whom can converse well in English if compared with other Asian countries, which is mainly true thats why there are many outsourcing companies who has established their businesses here. English should be taught more on schools since English can boost tourism in a certain country.
