I Finally Did It - I Bought My First Pair of Designer Shoes!! email this discussion to a friend?

Well folks, after 33 years of living on this rock that revolves around our sun, I finally lost my designer shoe virginity!!

I belong to several meetup groups around town, and they had an event last night at the new Stuart Weitzman store that opened up at a local mall. They had all of their spring and summer shoes on sale at 50% off!!

Now, as most of you girls know, designer shoes are wicked expensive. I would have never dreamed of buying a pair of shoes this expensive. But I have been looking for a pair of dark brown everyday heels for several months now, and I hadn't found anything I liked...until last night.

Enter a pair of dark brown leather slingbacks. $300 shoes on sale for $150. I had to have them. They are so comfortable for heels! I was ecstatic!! I can already tell that I will be wearing these for years. They are very well made.

So, that is my story of my first pair of designer shoes! Do any of you girls have a story about your first pair? Do you remember what they were and where you got them?

Stuart is my start...Manolo is my goal! thumbup Yikes! I may have to get a second job!!

I really wish i could afford a pair of shoes for that much, but i doubt i would even pay that much for shoes actually i probably will never unless someone else buys them. Of course i have sneakers that are nikes and that type of sneakers of course, but now high heels, well i do have steve madden and rampage shoes but those are very expensive, but i usually just go for how cute they are and if they fit and feel good them I'm buying them. I don't even have a job but went shopping today and got a couple amount of stuff at an outlet store for 13 dollars as friday is a club day for people under 50 years old so i try to take advantage of that when i can of course.

I am all over the sales, girl. I am a bargain shopper. But see, finding something cute that fit and felt good was my problem. I really needed a pair of brown heels. I have so many cute outfits that just don't look right with clunky Clarks! I have been combing the shoe department at Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom's, The DSW Shoe Warehouse...you name it, I've been there at least half a dozen times since the beginning of spring!

I've tried on every brown heel they have, and they all either don't fit right, don't look good, or are so uncomfortable I can hardly walk in them!

I never understood what people saw in designer shoes until I tried on this pair (which I am wearing right now!). They are so well made, and very comfortable. Probably the most comfortable pair of heels I've ever worn. As soon as I slid one onto my foot, I knew I was in trouble. These were the shoes I had been looking for!

Unfortunately, they happen to be expensive shoes, but I still caught the sale! They could have been $300!! I'd like to see myself try to explain THAT to hubby! $150 is a lot easier to get over than $300.

Normally though, I agree with you. I try to find the best deals out there and see how far I can stretch that dollar!

Good luck finding a job!

ahhh...your story brings a tear to my eye! I love shoes! I used to work in a shoe store, and had SO many pairs. My fiancee gets irritated with me because we have a huge walkin closet and it is so full of my designer stuff. I would like to say that I bought my first designer stuff because they were comfortable, or practical...nope, they were just beautiful. My latest thing, since my closet it full, is purses. I showed my fiancee a purse that I SO have to have, and he about fell over when he saw the price tag. I don't have it yet...but I will! Congrats on your fist pair of Weitzmans, and I will look forward with you to those Manolos!

Ugh! Jealous! happy I have a small walk-in closet, but not much designer stuff...yet. I belong to a few online designer sale sites, where you join for free and can get up to 90% off the retail price of designer clothes, shoes, accessories, and even home stuff. They present new designers every day.

It is SO ADDICTIVE! I have bought Prada and Marc Jacobs sunglasses for less than $100 each, Morra Designs earrings, and a few other things I can't think of right now. But that is about it. I can't go hog wild, or my husband would leave me! He already complains about the amount of shoes I have, and what I have is nothing, girl, believe me. I have maybe about 30 pair. That includes sandals and boots.

I am going to have to save my pennies for those Manolos. I know it is going to be SO WORTH IT when I finally get a pair. They actually have them on sale occasionally on one of those sites I was talking about earlier. They are still astronomical in price, but much better than retail!

I guess it depends on what you call designer shoes as to whether I have some or not. To me, name brand is practically designer since I used to get all my shoes at Payless. So my Nike shoes that were over $100 are designer to me, and they look wild too which adds to the effect. I got those Nike Air Rift sneakers awhile back. Fairly comfortable. They're supposedly to work for walking or running, but I can't see myself running in mary janes, so I just use them as walking shoes.

I completely understand! It has taken me 33 years to get to the point where I was willing to shell out the money for shoes like this. I seriously don't think I would have bought them if they weren't 50% off.

Before buying these, my most expensive shoes were running/athletic shoes. Those always seem to cost me more than $100.

And I agree with you about running in mary janes...not happinin.' They sound cute though! happy

CAREFUL!!!

Don't wear those new beautiful shoes every day. You should only wear them every other day so they will last longer!

Happy shoe-ing.

myLot reputation of 91/100. cobra1368 (518)  5 months ago

lol I try to fit them into my wardrobe once a week. Don't worry! I'm treating these shoes like they're alive; carefully putting them back in their box when I'm done with them, using shoe polish to buff out any scuffs I may see. I'm definitely committed to taking care of them!
