If it's brown flush it down...
Yes, that was our motto this past week at our family reunion. Every other year, my mothers siblings and their descendants go away for a week-long reunion. This year we went to my great grandfathers old hunting lodge that my mother is now a member of. This place has only had indoor plumbing for the last 10 years or so, and sometimes the well is not all that reliable. So when there's a lot of people there, you need to conserve water. Which means no showers (for the whole week) and don't flush the toilet unless you have to. We were pretty close to cleaning out the outhouse and using that for the week. At any one time there was between 10-30 people staying there, so we had to be very careful.
Have you ever adopted this method of conserving water? Did you forget sometimes and flush anyways? Or did you find yourself checking each bathroom to see which one needed flushing before you did your business?
OH! I'm so glad to be home and able to flush all the time!

No we have no problem like that in our part of the world. We never have more than twenty people in our little house at a time,we have one bathroom and we all manage. We don't suffer from water shortage round here as we are on main drainage/thank goodness.I do hope you all had a good week and how nice is it to see everyone again.

It's pretty far out in the country so they don't have city water/sewer systems. They use a well and septic so with a lot of people it causes problems. If there had been a lot of rain this past month it wouldn't have been an issue, but it's been kinda dry.
But we had a blast and managed pretty good!

Wow!! I can't decide if this is too much information or not. lol. Whenever we go to my dad's friends' cabin, though, up in the woods - we usually don't flush if it's just pee. We figure, why not save as much water as we can, seeing as they have a very limited self-run septic system as it is? But then again..(and this is kind of weird to say, but still..) if pee is super-concentrated (really yellow) - sometimes it has a really strong odor, and so I'll flush it. I drink a lot of water, so mine's usually pretty clear and odorless. But some peoples...pew! I couldn't imagine leaving that in the toilet.

There were some times when it was pretty rancid and I'd flush. We should have set a limit like 3 times or something then flush. Sometimes it was quite a few times because there was a lot of toilet paper in there. My aunt was really sick and the toilet paper clogged up when she had to flush. We'll be much more prepared next time!

Hi, reinydawn. At my home, I flush either way. I don't like to use the bathroom behind someone without first flushing it. I hardly forget to flush the toilet. I believe in saving but I gotta flush mess down the toilet. The only time that I may not flush is when, the toilet is stopped up very badly.

Yes, it is important to save water.
In the place we live, we have to buy water because ground water has been the sea water. We have to pay about $ 30 per month.
I often suggest to families to save water. Using water only as needed. Using the minimal possible time toothbrush, bathing, washing, etc..
That, saving water can save the earth from global warming.

We also "recycled" the water we did use. When we washed the dishes, we didn't dump the water down the drain, but saved it to use in the toilet.
