People tend to collect memorabilias of a particular stuff they really like. Usually it begins with purchasing something and then when one sees a different version, he buys it too. Before one knows it the purchases accumulate into so many and it becomes a collection. Many like coins and currencies, dolls, horses, matchboxes, comic books, etcetera. I have heard of one collecting Mickey Mouse and another one collecting toilet bowls. Have you any strange collection?

My first collection was buttons. I don't mean the kind that do up on a shirt. I mean the ones with logos on them that you pin to your shirt or bag or whatever. I have hundreds of them that I used to have pinned to a cork wall. Don't have a cork wall in this house so they sit in a giant box in the basement. So I've pretty much stopped collecting them. When I was younger my Dad travelled a lot and he would always bring me a button from the place he visited. I also got one from every NHL team (back then). I even put them in categories.
Then I started collecting key chains - also purchased on trips to other places. I used push-pins to hang them on the cork wall. I don't have tons of those. They are in a small box in my basement too.
I also collected coffee mugs for awhile. That one is a little costly, takes up a lot of room and they didn't get used so I garage saled some of them and stopped collecting them.
Right now the only thing I collect is autographed books. When I meet an author I will purchase one of their books and have them autograph it. That is my newest obsession, which can be quite costly. But I don't meet authors very often... a couple of times a year.
I also collect any books. I am nuts about that. I don't have time to read all the books I have purchased through garage sales, second hand stores, book store sales, and the tons I got from my father's collection after he passed away. Probably about 200 unread books in this house. Will I ever read them all?
I think that's pretty much it... and here I thought I didn't collect anything!

I like your newest collection, books and author's autographs. For years to come it can become quite commemorable.
I think the enjoyment of collection is to possess something instead of using it. It's like lots of women collect handbags and shoes, not to wear them but to enjoy having something beautiful in their wardrobes. It is some form of art that indeed attract us.

You both are a collector's item. I would love to have you in my home, ha ha.

When I was a kid, I liked to keep stickers in my drawer. There were pictures of animals, little drawings, and letters. I also kept shining and colourful candy paper or wrappings. I tried to collect stamps but it seemed to be too much hassle for a lazy kid like me (since you have to seek and exchange stamps constantly). My stamp book ended up in the bottom of the drawer then disappeared in oblivion, and I have no idea where my early collections are now.
As I grew older and life became busier, I never feel like to attach myself to something. I would keep plastic bags because they are convenient for sandwiches; I collect abandoned pens since they are useful; I tried to collect some membership cards as they may save some money. The only thing which can spark my collection desire is colourful tights. Even so, there are not many pairs in my drawer, no more than six. Sometimes I think myself too practical in my approach to life.
