Do you take care of safety in sports?

Sports are good, but sports must be safe. For wheel skating, helmet and knee/elbow protection must be worn. And the road condition should be well in mind. For swimming, safety means must be at hand to immergent cases. For all sports, it is necessary to do warming up. And some facilities are not suitable for children, or without adult supervision. Sports are good, but only with good safety means.

I use caution and all necessary forms of safety for whatever sport I engage in. However I don't play any sports and the only two I did play back in highschool was softball briefly and bowling for two years in high school. I don't think we had any safety items in bowling other than common sense and not dropping the ball on ones foot, but we did have helemets in softball.

zhuhuifen46, I think the most important thing here is not taking care of the safety but taking care of ourselves all the time. It is always important for us to pay attention to details on ourselves both the physical and mental aspects. I am sure before we embark on any physical exercises or sports we must always have our bodies physical checked by a medical professional to determine and ensure that our bodies will be able to cope with the strains and amount of physical activity. No point exercising for 1 day and sick for the rest of the week, right? Before we proceed there will be environmental factors we will need to be wary of at all times i.e. weather, climate, ground or water temperatures. I feel that these factors are being overlooked or taken for granted by most of us and I must admit that I am just as guilty here. Oversights here is just ill-affordable and could be fatal for all of us. Take care.

Good morning! I was never a huge sports person, and even things I liked doing, like riding a bike or rollar skating, I was never overly concerned about safety... UNTIL I had my son! Now, with my little boy almost 4 YO, he's ALL boy and has NO fear and wants to try EVERYTHING! Now, I'm very safety aware! Helmets on bikes, helmets, elbow and knee pads on scooters, swim bands while in the pool... And things that I ignored, like helmets, I now wear myself because I can't very well tell him 'it's the rule' if I'm not doing it myself! Things I never learned how to do well, like swimming, led to missed out fun and I made sure from a very young age he learned to love the water... But also, he's so unafraid that it's down-right terrifying for me!
