The Last S.O.N.A of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo 7/27/09

TOday, i just listened (not all) to the last State of the Nation Address of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, President of the Philippine Republic..a lot of critics were suggesting that the President should state her mistakes as well than just her accomplishments. and some of her political critics even boycott the SONA because they believed it to be a waste of time.. I just can't enumerate all of her speeches because i was also using an ear plug to prevent from listening to her too much gratitude on the Congress. but besides her Accomplishments that she mentioned, she was kinda fighter this time, as she criticizes her own critics that they are too afraid than brave... and even cited Mar Roxas's(not said) Bad words during the SONA. She kept hitting her critics through out her S.O.N.A, but the one that made clear is that she really kinda approve that Constituent Assembly tone because she mentioned ammending one of the Law she mentioned. I just couldn't stand it when she's saying gratitude to other people..even mentioned Manny Pacquiao and probably allowing a silent prayer for former President Cory Aquino. I know some of the Filipino Mylot users have watch it. Do you remember some of her statements, can you share me your views with them. I believe some critics would still be criticizing the President despite that somewhat aggressive speech of hers.

Why don't we help our selves rather than making trouble, maybe some of the statements are true, some are not, but think about it, if we really want to change this country we should have first do it our selves, now tell me who among here didn't commit any lies? we hate her because shes a liar the fact is we lie to why don't we hate ourselves then?

I understand what you mean...maybe if it was something personal then we wouldn't bother criticizing her.but when it comes to corruption that involves, stealing money, bribery, killing activist, and torturing journalist, all of that she never mentioned in her presidency is something that we have the right to be angry for. we lie too but we don't burden the people with their taxes and their trust. She did.. .Helping is easy said than done, what can you do to help if i may ask.

I agree with you. Instead of wasting our time rallying in streets, complaining, we should be working for the future we wanted, not just ask for their accomplishment from someone else. It does seem ironic that we keep blaming the President (whoever is seated) because we're not living a good life, but isn't it our own responsiblity to do that?

not all people are the same. but for me all that they do like rally is just a waste of time. instead of working or doing things that might help elevate their living they just end up hurt and no prize to claim. We should not put the blame to only one, imagine if you are the president, a successor of all problems from the previous president. let's see what will you do. corruption is the interest of all government officials! they want the position just to corrupt. I don't trust any government official because they aim for only one! MONEY, a simple change will help us. it's up for us to find it out what is the best to contribute for this country.

Hello LetranKnight, I watch the President SONA. I don't agree on what she said. Because all her speech is a big lies. She said on her SONA that her government is creating 8 million of jobs, while the truth is not. She mention that her government does to help poor grow their life and the number of poor is now decreasing to about 40% but if you look about the grievances of more Filipino's is the high value of living as of today She praise Manny on the event while it does not any connection for her accomplishment. SHe challenge her critics while she doesn't challenge those corrupt in the her government. There is no accomplishment to be present but all big lies This President should be away from the Philippines, because she always betray us...

Yup! My friend. All the President speaks on her last SONA, is useless. Because even Manny Pacqiuao, that is not connection on her accomplishment will carried on. Is that an accomplishment to say that "Manny" will bring proud of our country? A weird president and liar. How can she says, that her government created 8 millions jobs. Where many Filipino's are trying their luck abroad, due to lack of jobs here in the Philippines. Did you believe there is 8 million jobs created by the administration of Arroyo? As far as I know, there is no existence but only "call center" that always inside the story of the Television and print media. But there is no 8 million call center agent in the Philippines, right? Do you believe that the number of poor is down to 40% and no Filipino's today are suffer from hunger? There are many lies behind her SONA...she warn the public that give her power in MalacaƱang. It is appear that she is a human right violators because she never clarified about the human right violation that is happening in her administration...because some of her advisers is a crime buster(human right violator)

That's Funny....and weird..no wonder i felt that i didn't wanted to hear her speech when showing gratitude to her what ever. Manny surely has no connection with Pacquiao. and Manny blindly astound by her speech. Of course, she can't challenge her own people because they will bring her down too if she exposed them herself.

i didnt watch, not even listened. i dont care, she does not care also so why will i waste electricity and time listening or watching. i watched something that i will learn from than her telling people of what she did for the country which is no need to blah about for that is her duty to the country. those are the reason why she is the president to serve the people not people serving her. i hope this is the last for people are craving for change. change for the better we are under her power for so long already and it stinks.

Glad you didn't, it was some what irritating that i had to put ear plugs into my ear in some of her gratitudal part of that speech. we struggle so hard for that change, i think Gloria should really throw in the towel this time...not after her shower..but after her term.

well, i did not listen to the SONA of gma. what could i expect from her? i don't think i would get inspiration from listening to her. and i don't think gma is an inspiring leader as a president should be to the country. she sets a bad example for young people about handling power and accountability. she eludes and avoids accountability by crushing efforts to look into allegations of curruption and cheating in the government. what will the youth learn from gma? most i think are negative. i am just happy to see her go and welcome the new one.

Well, one more Year to go every one is almost free to file cases against her. am pretty sure the truth will come out sooner than we think. Youth does not trust her anymore, and probably hate her too. am just glad she didn't extend her term,.

I just laugh on her speech, there's nothing really substantiate on her message.but I am looking forward for the charges to resume in the court since President Macapagal Arroyo will no longer be President after the 2010 Elections. let's just give her a break, she did what "we" thought she did was right. we'll see how brave she is when she answered the allegations of her critics through the court

I did too. and at the same time it was some what very annoying..i don't want her around malacanang anymore. i hope they do have her trialed by the court. or worse, by the Senate that she kept calling her critics. it's just probably another last speech

It's rainy and it proves that her last statement is the last..though for a moment she almost convince and trying to be a hero in the eyes of the people but it's too late. and i noticed she keep waiting for applause's. and so what if she's not extending term, Good riddance. I am looking forward for the New President after Her term....next year..

agreed, the storm is showing the people's anger over what she did. she did her job and then some. well, what would have happened if they didn't applauded her. that's right we are happy that she is not extending her term. but Miriam santiago has her doubts, she didn't say quitting the Presidency.

The Sona is very important because she gets to report everything that a leader has done in so many years. as for now, that's her last report. despite of the inadequacies.
