Well for a good reason! They don't want you to go to those drinking sessions. If you prioritize being "in the crowd" more than the safety from keeping away from the sessions, then your parents are right to keep you home. When you can make correct choices, that would be the time they would trust you to decide for yourself.

Yes. I send my money in Paypal to my brother as a way of encashing my money there. Because if I would withdraw it through my bank account, it will be deducted a fee. Just mark it personal payment before you send it.

Besides, I don't think the non-native english speakers could take advantage of your lecture. What's nominative pronoun? appositive? Your lecture is full of big words that I doubt those who genuinely doesn't know the difference of than and then could actually learn.

It's not about being materialistic. There are some experiences you can only have when you have money. And not all fame is shallow. There are those who has works hard just to be recognized, like scientists or artists. Most famous artists weren't recognized during their time. It's a sad thought. You're right. His situation has peer pressure written all over it. Sometimes the kid has to prove to his parents that he can make right decisions for them to allow him to decide for himself.
