My fiance has to go back to either Hyderabad or Bangalore for a few months due to the company he works for. He will leave in November and I will arrive in December. He says it will be fine and I will love it (which he has said about many things I have not loved) I am just nervous. I will be completely dependent on another person in a foreign country. What is Hyderabad or Bangalore like? I can speak some Hindi, but do I need to learn regional languages too?

If you can speak Hindi, that should be sufficient for you in Hyderabad and Bangalore. You can speak in English even if you are uncomfortable with any person. Dont worry, you will be fine and I am sure you will love the place.

I have been to and lived in both these cities for a bit. They are very cosmopolitan and with some Hindi you could definitely get around. The whole IT industry is largely concentrated in these cities, when you think about India. You will find several people of Indian lineage who have spent a large part of their lives in other countries and have come back to India to settle down.I have a few in my family as well. You will feel comfortable.Don't worry about it.Get ready for some fun.

I have never been to India so I know nothing about the languages or what it is like. I think that you should try to read about it and talk to him about it and you will have more of an idea what the issues are and what you are getting into in terms of the local culture and the flavor of the country. Hopefully he wont get involved in an arranged marriage discussion with his parents.

well, you have not mentioned which country you belong to. nevertheless, since you already know hindi,it should not be a problem. You can easily manage with hindi in both bangalore and hyderabad. i think you should not get nervous about it as it is only for a few months. i belong to hyderabad, and i must say that it is a very cosmopolitan city and you should not find it difficult here. The city has good malls, great food and plenty to see around. hope you have a good time if you happen to come to hyderabad. bangalore is quite good too.
