It's Hard Being A Christian When Everyone I Know Is Divided!!

Presbyterian, Mennonite, Southern Baptist, Mormon. Those are the faiths represented in my family. All are Christians (yes, even the Mormons, A.K.A the Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints, to all those out there who doubt that Mormors are Chriatians, THEY ARE!!). Anyway, with Christians so divided at certain times, I'm having a hard time with my faith. I believe in God, for the most part I believe in Christ, I still like my Church (Presbyterian) but the division of ideas and the CONFLICT in Christianity is enough to drive me NUTS!! Anyone else experiencing this? How are you handling it? Some people are not amused with me because I am not "making allowances" for religion. some people believe in this not that, and that not this, and so on and so forth. I'm just going to live my life, and not kowtow to people. It's different if I'm in someone else's home (I won't expect the Mormons to serve me coffee, or the Mormons and Mennonites to serve me alcohol) but I won't stop behaving the way I do everyday outside of their homes. I've been asked to make allowances now and then in their presence, but I won't, because if I do, I'll have to make allowances for all of them. I am only one of four religions in my family, and if I start kowtowing to the presence of another religion, I'll lose my identity, and just be another "submissive, accomodating woman." Nope! Not the life for me. I understand diplomacy, and that's why I'm writing THIS, voicing my opinions, instead of just using a bunch of bad-tempered, dirty words, to describe how I sometimes feel about the whole thing.

Eventhough there may be a lot ... My kind suggestion is, instead of following someone or some diversity, its better to follow Jesus Christ and His word. Don't be a christian and try to be like Christ. Follow God instead following religions. Do what is in His word and walk in the will of God. I dont have much to say as I am going to a spiritual church nearby my homw and lead a life according to that what he said in the Bible.

But how do we do this when everyone thinks they are following God? They think they're following God when they do things that are contradictory to the other groups that think they are following God, and two people can't be following someone or something when they're going in totally different directions. So how do we know when we're following Jesus, and when someone else is not?

I can understand it. That one it better to leave it to God. The Holy spirit leads us in all the truths and he is the good comforter. He will surely lead you in the right direction. Tell someone who asks your way that holyspirit who dwells in me leads me in these direction. He will take care of the rest.

In my life there are different kinds of Christians, but it does not affect me. I don't think about it much. What I notice is the way they treat me and others. Unfortunately, some of the treat people in miserable ways. They lie and play games. They not to be trusted. I do my best to ignore them.

I've gone to great lengths to not be involved in what some of them want me to do. Some people think I have gone too far, but it's not going too far when I am the only one who is expected to compromise. Just because I'm the most liberal, I'm expected to be the "bigger person." Excuse me? BIGGER? I dind't think Chriatians were supposed to be boastful!

Maybe I am too self centered but I don't care which church everyone else goes to, I am connected to my own religion. I can't understand why it would matter what anyone, including family, thinks about religion. The key relationship is you and your Deity. there are many paths and All are correct. You just have to find the one you connect with and be faithful. And if Anyone dosn't like it, that's Their problem.I guess I was soo lucky, my mom wasn't religious so i got to choose the rteligion that felt right for me. But thinking back, being a stubborn child, I would have gone to her church but I wouldn't have been religious.Religion is such a personal thing. i am glad there are so many paths to choose from, not only in Christianity but in my religion too and others.Freedom of choice is great.

Sanathana Dharma - When Do We Stop Fighting In The Name Of Religion ..
The Concept Of Religion Was Used By Invaders To Divide And Rule .. The Same Is Happening in Most Countries, As the trick Now Is Used By Politicians .. To Provide Sops To One Religion Is The Order Of the Day, Followed By politicians .. Am Ashamed to live with Religion Being The Focal Point For Everything .. You Have to Live with this .. I Guess .. Thank You ..

The whole thing is not about religion its about a relationship with God. I don't make allowances for other religions, the God I serve does not like it.

That is how I feel at times too. We all have our own beliefs and we have to stay true to ourselves no matter what everyone else is doing or thinking. We have to make sure we are happy within no matter what.

I agree. Now I don't expect to eat pork around my Jewish friends homes, and when I had some Mormon friends, I didn't expect caffeinated sodas or smoking there. They didn't mind me bring my own in tho. They also didn't expect me to "keep kosher" in my home or not have caffeinated sodas in my own home. I don't think if you are not in their home, you should be expected to alter your way of life to accommodate them. They shouldn't expect it. Honestly, if they want everyone to behave the way they do, they need to go to a place where EVERYONE believes like they do.

my family's like that-a bunch of faiths, not all of them christian. and we had one atheist as well. some of my family is irish protestant, and when my mom converted to roman catholic,oh they weren't happy with her. it's more or less the same god with a different set of worship,i don't know why they have to fight over it.

Well, if the Roman Catholic Church (my religion of course!) weren't being so naive,arrogant,fool,lust,politicians,lust...for power and money during the old times and probably some..now, maybe there won't be such divisions in the first place..even in here, there's another group of large Christian Group besides the ones you mentioned; one if Church of Christ and Jesus is Lord Movement. they were times too when a few Jehova's Witness people tried to convert me..but the thing is, no matter how many differences that we have in our beliefs as a Christian, we should always remember that we have a sole mission to our fellow brothers and sisters...even if there not the same with us..and that is to do GOOD.that's all that matters.

You thinks that is all, think about how there are even different ways of thinking in various churches. I think this shows the divided and conflicted nature of some humans.. It is eaiser to divide something over and over rather than to get along and center around something they all have in common.
