Road Constructions In My Home Town Have Gone Too Far!!!

The busses have gotten so messed up, that i can hardly go anywhere anymore. I moved into this apartment 7 years ago, because of the location, and because of the bus stop. Now I feel like I am living on a freaking island!!!
Today I walked up to McDonalds to get a burger, and then i was going to go to the coffee shop after. I stepped out of McDonalds, to discover that the bus stop was not in use because of construction. I walked across the street, and that one was not in use either, so I walked to a local rent-a-car place and asked them to call me a cab. The rent-a-car place was the closest thing I could find with a phone. They suggested i rent a car instead, but quickly changed their mind when they saw my white cane. LOL I'm almost blind! I should not be driving, especially in the middle of a construction zone.
Today was one transportation disaster after another, and I ended up paying more in cab fare than I pay at the coffee shop over a two week peripd.
Is this madness ever going to end?
I've often said that I'm going to hire a limo and a personal driver when I win the lottery, but I'm beginning to think a helicopter would be a better idea. LOL A limo would never get through the construction zone.

Yeah, it is indeed trough that here in Canada we only have 2 seasons: Winter season and construction season LOL
I hate it as well. And just before school was over I entered my regular street car just to learn that it was going to a completely different place because of road construction. I had to deal with the fact that it was taking me an extra 20 minutes to get to work for those last days of school.
Now I'm home and it's not bad around here. But if I still had to work I would be really upset.

That's one of the nice things with Ohio's bad economy, we haven't had nearly 25% of the road construction that we are use to in the summer time. My city is divided by a river and one year they had 3 of the 4 bridges closed down for construction. It was really hard to leave the city unless it was in the middle of the night LOL

don't feel bad.i am on a freaking island.
i'm having this same problem with my mom,and the fact they still haven't put in enough sidewalk slopes in the older sidewalks, which makes it hard as hell to get the chair up sometimes.
even the hospital area when they rebuilt has too high of sidewalk edge to easily go over it.of all places i'd think would accomidate,i thought surely there.
i think i'm going to complain to the city, because both during construction and just in general,i often have to roll her in the street, which is dangerous.

Sounds like Toledo on a good day! I drove home from my sisters in the suburbs about a month ago and found 3 of the roads that I usually take were closed due to construction...........or destruction as I call it. With the stimulus money that the president has given to the different states, it promises to get worse here, before it gets better. I have already been given a notice about street by my apartment, which is a major one, and I don't look forward to the work beginning.

The problem with "road construction" is that it never ends, orange cones, big machines and people who work when the union says they can is more of a curse than a blessing. Pretty soon they will tear up the whole road and fix it when they get around to it.

I hate those patches of orange cones although I like the results when finished. It always seems they spring up at the wrong time in the wrong place. Instead of a helicopter why not look into a transporter like in Star Trek? Much neater, less environmentally damaging.
